Hotel Steinbock

We love everything about the stay, centrally located right next to train station, resturants. Room is very clean and spacious. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. The hostess even helped carrying our luggage upstairs to our room. Breakfast was pretty nice.

Women who worked at check in and the restaurant were fabulous and so kind! LOVED being so close to the train station. So convenient after a long day of hiking. The food at dinner was amazing!! The patio was enjoyable. The staff was always kind enough to get me ice!

I received a room in the annex. After reading other reviews I was expecting a room or building next to and attached to the hotel. It was on a completely different property down the street, above the grocery store and up three flights of stairs. I feel that when they say “annex” in the description it is very misleading and they need to describe exactly what you are getting.I requested a room with a view and found that when I looked out the window there was a nice view of the other hotel behind the building AND about thirty other people directly looking back at me while coming down the hill on the cogwheel!! And I mean directly. The station was next door. The walls were thin and I had to listen to someone in the other room snoring every night. The bathroom ceiling was moldy and the towels were old and falling apart. It seemed more like a motel 6 rather than a $500/night hotel!

No air conditioning and bugs when you open the windows no screen. No ice machine

The double room space was ok and a family can move around if there are no luggage lying around. The breakfast was quite nice with eggs, toast and cheese. There is a Coop on the ground floor, to make grocery shopping easier.

When you book the double room, the rooms are in a different location (1 minute walk across the main road) than the reception/breakfast area. That means, the mountain view is kind of missing . There was a big wall next to one of the windows, not a mountain view. The reception could be nicer. There are no lifts and have to take the stairs to go up the third floor. While doing the check-in, their magnetic swipe reader could not fetch my passport details, instead of manually typing (which I eventually protested to do on-behalf of them) they were bending the passport pages and swiping back and forth multiple times. What if they just tore my passport bio-data page just to fill in my name?
