Rothay Manor Hotel

I've stayed three times over the past few years. This is a beautiful hotel in a very central location, elegant, cozy, comfortable, immaculate, tastefully decorated. The breakfasts are wonderful and the evening options are just as good if not better. The bar area has a nice fireplace that is great on cold rainy afternoons and evenings. It's a great home base for all points in the Lake District, also easily walkable to anywhere in Ambleside and Rydal. The staff is exceptional and polite, with attention to the specific details of the guests.

Not much, but maybe more evening food options on the more casual bar menu (which is different from the upscale main restaurant menu).

Very comfortable. In a great location for some excellent walks. Tucked away in a quiet corner of Ambleside yet a few minutes walk from the town. Food was absolutely fantastic. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Our room was at the back so the view was over the staff car park and we were over the kitchen so from about 7 were disturbed by noise from an extractor fan. We also had to turn our fridge off at night as on the first night it disturbed our sleep.
