Altarocca Wine Resort Adults Only

A Wonderful Retreat Surrounded by Vineyards and Olive Groves Altarocca is a beautiful place for a peaceful and relaxing retreat, offering a lovely swimming pool, spa, and massage treatments. We had an amazing experience with a guided wine and olive oil tasting tour, followed by a light lunch and a relaxing 20-minute body massage. The property enjoys stunning views over the vineyards and olive groves, which can be admired from the rooms, the breakfast hall and its terrace, as well as the restaurant. We also enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the restaurant, which made our stay even more memorable. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always helpful, contributing to the overall pleasant experience. A perfect destination to relax, enjoy excellent food and wine, and appreciate the beauty of the surrounding countryside. Highly recommended!

The property is beautiful - very quiet, vineyards and rolling hills. In September the pool was very quiet - we had it to ourselves for most of the morning which was nice as we were there to relax. The breakfast was excellent - huge range of fruits, cakes, meat sandwiches cheeses. The restaurant is up market and was very nice. Excellent staff and service, with great recommendations on the food and wine. In terms of location, Orvieto old town was absolutely stunning and one of my favourite places we visited. So using Altorocca as a base was very enjoyable.

The rooms were a little odd - they had a sauna (aka luxury) but didn’t have basic things like wine glasses or an iron, or anywhere to put toiletries in the shower. There is also nothing to eat during the day. The restaurant is very upmarket which is available for lunch and dinner, but if you want something small int he afternoon there is nothing and there is no where near.given it was September, the bar at the pool was closed. My opinion is the resort is aimed towards older people - we are 30 and after dinner there is nothing to do. The bar area isn’t really staffed so even getting a drink post dinner is not possible. I would just be mindful that Orvieto is a 15 minute drive away with very little transport. We had a car so it was fine but I wouldn’t recommend staying without one or you are stuck.

Accomodation is over a large extended area, too far away from main facilities. Two pools, our room was at the outer pool, nice pool no services, if a drink was required you needed to call reception. Wine or beer could be ordered by phone for extra 10 euro to deliver. No toilet facility. For breakfast we needed to either drive or negotiate a hilly track for 7 minutes walk. Restaurant/bar area lacked service, only used it once each time I had to walk to the bar for service. We had one of the most expensive rooms in the resort. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it.
