Hotel Mod

Great location. Nice breakfast, good staff

The toilet had a leaking, the TV have bad connection.

The staff at the Hotel Mod is exceptional, particularly Emrah who needs to be recognized for his efforts above and beyond to wait until 11:00 pm to come to pick us up at the main bus station in Sarajevo because our bus with Globus Turist was a full 2 hours late arriving from Montenegro. Thanks again for the outstanding service Emrah. The location of the hotel is near all the main sites in and near the Old Town. The room has a refrigerator and the bed was comfortable.

The hotel is located in an area of restaurants that seem to dump their garbage on the streets right in front of the hotel. Our room was over the street so you could hear garbage trucks early in the morning but a fair amount of the trash was left on the sidewalks after pick up. This seems to be a problem throughout the old town and along the river in Sarajevo. I realize this is not the hotel’s fault but it was noticeable in the neighborhood in the immediate vicinity. The breakfast was quite honestly one of the poorer we have had on our 10 country journey through Eastern Europe; although Emrah did his best to improve it a bit by making us a nice omelet the morning he was there on the weekend. The property is in a traditional Sarajevo house and is showing its age. Despite all of this, the hotel lobby and our room were very clean and we were well taken care of during our stay.

Breakfast selection was very basic, and booking a taxi was not straightforward.

The receptionists are helpful, responding to my requests promptly. The location is convenient as it is located close to both old and new towns.

The hotel does not meet the standards of comfortableness. The instruction given when I arrived was minimum. I did not know that there were multiple options of WiFi connections available at the hotel. They are all weak and unstable but one of them was 5G and I was able to have a ZOOM call (but the image was not clear and I could not watch video streaming even with this 5G). Breakfast times are different in weekdays and weekends, but the information was not given to me. Breakfast does not come with a warm meal, though the bread felt fresh (as in many other places in Bosnia). There was no kettle to boil water in the room, nor coffee. The worst part was the smell. There was bad smell all over the apartment (especially in the bathroom) which smells like a toilet. I do not know if all these issues were only in my room. I chose this hotel as the price of my usual hotel has gone up. The reviews seemed all good, but I did not find this hotel particularly comfortable.
