Rihga Gran Kyoto

Great location, very close to the Kyoto train station, bus transportation, subway, shops, restaurants and cafes. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a lot of storage space for clothing and personal items, much more than the typical Japanese hotels, which was great for our 4 night stay. The bathroom and the high-end amenities provided were great.

We would have loved to have a Nespresso type machine in our room, as is the case in many other hotels. We did not include breakfast in our package but used it once and it was okay but not great. Long lines for the two coffee machines really slowed things down.

Le onsen en fin de journée était super. L’emplacement permet d’atteindre de nombreux endroits à pied. La chambre était spacieuse et le bâtiment magnifique. Personnel très serviable.

Good luck using the washing machines. There is one on each floor and they only accept 100 Yen coins. They are always full and people have the option to wash the Basin whilst your clothes are still in there (undoing the entire washing/drying process) (floor 4 has THREE washing machines, but they will also always be full) We took a complaint to the staff. The staff laughed at the complaint and told us they couldn’t control what other guests did. They failed to come up with any solutions. Meanwhile, our clothes were hung up around the room to dry as our only alternative. There are only two elevators for the entire hotel and they stop on every floor due to the amount of foot traffic in the hotel The breakfast was below part with limited western options and mainly tasteless food. The bathroom was very outdated If you enjoy waiting for elevators and washing machines and appreciate disrespectful and unhelpful staff - this hotel would be perfect for you.
