Lochindaal Hotel

A great breakfast! Personalised service with options including a full Scottish Breakfast. Great old style service that we really appreciated and added to our experience on Islay.

Nothing. It's an older style establishment that added to the experience. Wouldn't change anything.

Exceptionally friendly owner and staff in this small country hotel/pub. The room was compact, but spacious enough for a few nights, and the decor was very nice. Breakfast was good and cooked by the owner himself (Tom?) who had a great sense of humour. We had one evening meal, and this was extremely tasty (the fish and chips is recommended!). There is also a small convenience store just a few minutes from the hotel where you can stock up on essentials such as bottled water or snacks.

Location was fine. Breakfast okay but a bit casual. For example fruit juice in cartons on the table, packets of cereal - not what we would expect at this price. Staff very friendly and helpful and cooked bit of breakfast was fine.

Other hotels we have stayed at during this island-hopping trip have offered, for the same price, more spacious public rooms, separate dining area and one even had two swimming pools. In our opinion, the Lochindaal should be marketed as a friendly, traditional Scottish pub with rooms and priced accordingly. We enjoyed staying there but felt it was over-priced.
