Verve Hotel

It’s clear that the owners really care about the customer’s comfort, which I really appreciate. So much care and consideration has gone into creating an experience and a pleasant environment.

It was overly formal and missing out on personal warmth, which the staff have in abundance. I’d like more ‘verve’ so maybe some menu tweaks, with themes, deals something to achieve the vibe this place deserves. Also, I would review the breakfast offering. The cereal, juice and buns are a good start but what follows is currently disappointing. I’d stay with the continental offering but rather than a plate of carbs, yoghurt and beans I’d provide a toaster, bread (jams are there) and follow with ham, cheese, yoghurt and a fruit jus. A 75cl steel cafetière of good coffee, not from a machine and this would stand out as much as it deserves. Less formal, more personal warmth and friendliness and the care that has gone into this place will be better for everyone

The Verve staff cannot do enough for you. Thank you to Baz, Naz, Rebecca, the lady who tidied our room and the handyman who helped us downstairs with our heavy cases. The bar and restaurant on site offer a great range of food and drinks in a pleasant dining area. There is a garden and outdoor area for sunny days. Twin beds are soft, comfortable but narrow (to fit in the space), a handy fridge is provided and a fan for warmer weather. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits in our room. The en suite shower room was small but adequate and the water temperature and flow was fine. Good location for town and Bedford Station.

Stairs become narrow at the top of the hotel with no lift, but that's the nature of a building with history.

Budget hotel, polythene tiles on ceiling, cramped bathroom, Rubbish breakfast, a cheap quick turnaround hotel done on a budget, duvet cover did not fit.
