Excellent food & service and brilliant music when dining .

Hotel kept many traditional features. The dining room table settings were immaculate, and there was even a pianist during evening meals. The staff were very courteous and impeccably dressed. The swimming pool area was a welcome addition.
Location was easy to find being on the main road however room on the front can pick up road noise when the windows are open.

The Livermead HouseHotel has an air of aged charm, and has a wonderful bar and lounges, I'd recommend those. The wi-fi was good, even in our room. They provided a kettle and tea/coffee in the room. The majority of the staff were great: very kind and attentive.
Our room was tiny. We'd booked a small double, but I didn't realise that meant both bed and room. We had to sleep on our sides, there wasn't room for both of us to sleep on our back. In addition, the beds were squeaky & soft so any movement of one woke up one of us! We both slept poorly both nights.
The shower room was tiny, no-one over my size could have made it past the shower and sink to the toilet. The water pressure was low. We didn't have a view, that was fine, but our window was above the bins, so we had the melody of bottles being emptied in every so often.
At breakfast there were far too many people (a coach tour and another group as well as other guests) to serve hot food by waiter. They were rushed off their feet, and we had to wait 15 minutes even to get tea/coffee, and then a long time for a very overcooked breakfast, with one egg. It wasn't value for money at £15.00 when I wasn't having bacon or sausage. One of the waitresses was pretty rude, shouting at me that I was in the wrong place, when I was exactly where her colleague had told me to sit. She then tried to put me with tour groups, when I wasn't with any of them. By the time she'd paraded me around the breakfast room, and tried to put me with several different groups, I ended up sitting back down exactly where I'd been before. Whilst I could see they were very busy, her behaviour was far from acceptable.
A breakfas buffet would have solved the problem, so we could just choose what we wanted without having to wait for it for so long. The wait staff could have just sorted drinks and extras, (which they do at their sister hotel). All the stress could have been avoided. We were staying for two nights, but chose to eat elsewhere for the 2nd morning.
It's changed a lot in the last 5 years.
