The Abbey Residence has a rooming house feel. We had a spacious room with large but dated ensuite. The walls could use a lick of paint, but there were no real issues with the room. Wifi was good and our room had a good sized Roku based smart TV with lots of streaming options.
Parking in central Edinburgh is hard so leave your car at the Abbey Residence and catch the bus into town from the bus stop just across the road.
It’s no high end hotel, but our room was clean and comfortable with good wardrobe and desk space. The staff were friendly and helpful. A local supermarket was just across the road if you need any ancillary items.
There’s some traffic noise from the adjacent streets, but not enough to stop us from getting a good night’s sleep on the large soft bed.
Overall a much more pleasant experience than you’d expect for the price point. Highly recommended for those wanting good value.

The hotel its a bit dated but the staff its great, welcoming and friendly. I couldnt have breakfast but the receptionist packed a bag for me. Super kind. The room was clean, with a big window so it was very pleasant in the morning. Bathroom was clean and overall a good size. The location its also great and easy transport to the city centre. I feel safe. I will come back again.
