About 100 meters from the vacation home lies the Greifswalder Bodden, Rügen’s oldest swimming spot, featuring a sandy beach and the historic willow-lined avenue. Here and at the sandy coves in the nearby forest, you can stretch your legs, swim laps, surf, or try stand-up paddleboarding. The beautiful and romantic surrounding countryside is ideal for cycling and hiking tours. In just a few minutes, you can reach the white “princely town” of Putbus, which was built in the Neoclassical style and is an attractive tourist destination featuring a large castle park with a game reserve, the small castle chapel, a theater, an orangery, the famous Circus, and several small shops.

In just 10 minutes on foot, you can reach the lively town of Lauterbach, where you’ll find shops, restaurants, an impressive marina, and a small harbor. Ferries depart from here to the island of Vilm and the Baltic Sea resorts of Sellin and Baabe. Right next to the marina is the historic Goor bathhouse. The expansive sandy beaches near Binz and Sellin are only a 15- to 20-minute drive away.

You can also reach Binz and the other Baltic Sea resorts via the “Rasender Roland.” This steam locomotive, over 120 years old, runs between Lauterbach and the Baltic Sea resort of Göhren, inviting you to take a nostalgic ride through the beautiful countryside in the south of the island and offering you the option to bring your bicycle along.
