À propos de cette location de vacances

The Black Hills are often underestimated because of the word “Hills”. This fact becomes apparent as you wind your way up hairpin turns high up on Edelweiss Mountain. The 1500 sq. ft. 3 bedroom mountain cabin is located at (5600 ft elevation) above sea level in the heart of the Black Hills and surrounded by National Forest. The cabin is located among the pine trees on Edelweiss Mountain just twelve miles north of Hill City South Dakota and three switchback country miles off of the Scenic drive U.S. Highway 385. Located within minutes of Pactola Lake, Sheridan Lake, and the Mickelson & Centennial Trails.

The perfect area for boating, hunting, fishing, hiking, rock climbing, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, off-roading, and sightseeing - Minutes from Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, and Custer State Park. The cabin is located near several ATV trails, drive to the trails from the cabin. Additional parking for trailers available on private lot. This mountain cabin retreat is truly in the heart of the Hills, hidden away from, but easily accessible to all Black Hills attractions.
There is ample parking for vehicles and trailers, so bring your ATV's or rent from one of the many local vendors in Hill City. There are endless ATV/UTV trails right off the property!

Approximately 22 miles west of Rapid City, SD. (Airport 14 miles east of Rapid City)

Please note Three switchback country miles off of U.S. Highway 385 to the cabin location.

If you are looking for some place to stay that is way off the beaten path, this is the place to stay. We were a bit shocked upon arrival as to how far off the beaten path it was. It is, in my opinion inconvenient, due to the distance to any town, if you just want to go eat at a restaurant or need something from the store. As far as the cabin itself, it was very well furnished with all of the necessities needed. It was, very well kept, other than the entry door locking mechanism. It was very loose and there was not a dead bolt on the door for added security when locking up at night. It wouldn’t take much to gain access into the house. Which made me unsettled at night. We will not be staying there again, only because of the cabins location being that far out off the beaten path from town and the door not having added security of a dead bolt and the key pad locking mechanism being loose. There was absolutely no cell reception at the cabin and you lost what reception there was almost immediately after turning off the main highway.

My fiance and 5 of our children (ranging in age from 19 to 5) stayed at this beautiful Cabin during our Black Hills vacation. The Cabin slept all 7 of us comfortably and could have easily accommodated more! The location was perfect! It was quietly nestled in the woods, creating a serene and peaceful place to stay! The neighborhood is very close to numerous trail access points for ATV riding (which i highly recommend). The Cabin was very clean and accommodating. It came equipped with most anything one may need during a stay(aside from groceries of course). Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay all the way around! It's very apparent that this Cabin is loved and cared for and we are very appreciative we were able to share in it's beauty!

Such a lovely cabin way up in the Black Hills! We really enjoyed our stay here with our family of 6 - plenty of room, very quiet & clean, fit all of our needs and was just as described. Definitely check out the top of the road (host describes how to get there in the binder) - you'll get a stunning view of the area. Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin with us! Just a side note for Aug 2025 - there's a major construction project going on on Hwy 385 and sections of it are closed, causing you to have to take long detours on gravel roads and wait for pilot cars to guide you at times. This probably doubled our drive time every day going to the major attraction areas like Rushmore/Keystone & Custer. No fault of the cabin of course, just so you can plan accordingly if you're visiting during construction :)

This is a nice enough older cabin off the beaten path. My main complaint is that the wifi password was no where to be found and we did not have cell service. There is a book that gives directions on how to get service which is nice, but having the wifi password available would have saved us some trouble. Also there are notes all over the cabin which are helpful but also contradictory. The website says to just start a load of laundry upon leaving but the note on the fridge says to wash and dry all laundry. The deck also seems like it has some weak boards which is a little scary. And there are some steps made of logs going down the hill in the trees and they are not secured at all. Overall this was a nice place to stay, just could use a few tweaks.
