Grandview Lake Placid

It is a beautiful hotel, beautiful view and a short walk to downtown— awesome!

I wish the pool/hot tub hours ran a little later.

They don't offer a free breakfast like most hotels.

The breakfast buffet was great. After searching for a breakfast place in town, which took a little while, we decided to eat right at the hotel. Food options were great for the price. Daniela and James are fabulous bartenders! Daniela helped us by suggesting great places to eat, visit etc. She seemed to know much history about the hotel and surrounding areas. James kept us busy with his stories and also his suggestions. They both were constantly working while chatting with everyone. They were a pleasure!

The floor in our room hadn’t been cleaned even after we asked. If bathroom floor or counter hadn’t been cleaned we were almost sure the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed either.

Stayed for one night in October. The resort is lovely and the view from the front of the hotel overlooking the lake was delightful. The few staff we dealt with at the desk were ok. Efficient, but not very personable. Our room was quite nice (until we opened up our curtain - see what we didn't like in the "What we didn't like" section!)

Our room location was TERRIBLE. Both Booking.com and the hotels own website described the rooms as "looking over the indoor pools". While technically accurate, they are doing a disservice to anyone who books these rooms. While those rooms are less expensive, the window in your room is LITERALLY 10' from the indoor pool and spa. We were shocked to see a half-naked man when we first opened our curtains. After a couple of seconds, we realized that he was wearing a swimsuit and walking around the pool. Meanwhile we made awkward eye contact with a family in the hot tub. Immediately closed the curtains, and obviously did not open them again until we left. We brought our concern to the front desk and manager, and was told that "yes, we try to explain this in the description of the room" WE DISAGREE. When asked for another room, the old bait-and-switch was offered "For another $60 we can get you into a lake view room." We declined, kept our curtains closed and left the hotel the next morning, with tremendous disappointment and frustration. This could have been a wonderful stay.
