This felt like we stayed at someone's beautiful house while still feeling very private. Even with the shared bath/shower, you weren't really waiting on anyone that often. Also the ryokan is well kept - the facilities are super clean (and in the bath room, there are plenty of products to use free of charge (even shaving cream and cleansers!). Our last ryokan was rundown so this was a pleasant welcoming.
The owner was so lovely - she even gave me another futon mattress because my back isn't great on just one. She would greet us when we got back.
The LOCATION was excellent - a 5-7 min walk to Kyoto station where you can pretty much get anywhere (by bus, train, subway or Shinkansen). If you want convenient travel, stay here.
Honestly, even though it was a shared bathroom which I was worried about - it's actually more like living in a house and going to the toilet and bathroom just down the short hall. Clean and private (individual stalls). So not really a negative XD
It could be a tiny bit noisy from outside but only from other people walking and talking aloud, not from traffic. Wasn't relly an issue

The proprietor of this place was caring, attentive, and easy to communicate with. The place itself was very charming and comfortable. Very clean. Only a few minutes walk from the big station, yet totally peaceful. Worth every penny. Cozy.
Understand that this place is very traditional. If you enjoy that you will love it. Real tatami mats, shared private bath. If you feel more comfortable in a Western style hotel, it may not be your style.

Très bon emplacement, la dame qui tient le lieux est très gentille et parle anglais. Lieu parfait si vous souhaitez vous immerger dans la culture japonaise / du ryokan. Thé et gateaux offert a l’arrivée, thé/café gratuit dans partie commune. Le lieu est equipé d’un petit onsen privé (bain japonais). Yukata disponible dans le logement. Les futons sont confortables et il y a la climatisation

The location was good. It was nice to experience the traditional Japanese Inn.
The room is small and the shower is shared and has to go downstairs.
