Hotel Mary

Hotel has a fabulous view when on the water side. Exceptional pool area with bar service, towels, chaise lounges, and umbrellas. Staff were very welcoming, and the valet parking was excellent. Location in Vico Equense was a short walk, with easy access to the town and restaurants. Breakfast selection was good and restaurant staff were very helpful.

The walls are very thin. There was an incredible amount of casual noise from the neighbouring rooms. When the neighbour came home in the evening they were talking in there room and we could hear them. This was not a party, but simply louder conversation. Also, you could not sleep with the patio door open, because there are dogs living on properties nearby that barked throughout the night. It was fine if you closed the patio door, but you cannot sleep with the door open. Nothing the hotel can do about this one - just an experience we had. Also, although the breakfast selection was good, it should have been refreshed more often. i.e., the fruit tray remained empty through our breakfast, the meat selection was picked over and not replenished, etc.

The walk to town and train station was a little long.

Breakfast was amazing, location was excellent and the view breathtaking.

The faucet was pretty much broken. I did not have much time so i did not ask for a new room, but that was kind of bad.

The sea from the room was very nice. We also really enjoyed an hour in the spa ( extra 25pp). The team managing breakfast/ restaurant manager was very nice. We were always welcomed with hello and goodbye when leaving and entering the hotel. Our room was always made tidy when housekeeping went in.

The rooms are not very well soundproofed, you can hear everything from either side of you. We unfortunately had some quite loud neighbours, once they had left it wasn't as bad, but got noisy at times. Admittedly we didn't mention this to reception as didn't feel there would much that could be done. The bathroom smelled very strongly of sulphur ( eggs/ drains) - this was pretty intense, seems like a bit of a drain issue at the hotel, lots of very nice smelling diffusers at the hotel, but maybe this is why? The hotel bar and restaurant is quite expensive, compared to other local restaurants. We therefore didn't eat or drink here, so couldn't on the quality of the food. We have checked out today, and no one has asked us how our stay was. We probably some of the above if we had been asked. We were just asked to pay and then we left. A bit disappointed.
