We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in this cozy, colorful beach house with a little Bohemian, Chinese, Mexican flair and a magnificient view over Mount Baker. Calm, quietude, the sound of waves, birds, and the wind in the nearby trees await the travelers. Although the house has clearly been lived in, it is well appointed and is welcoming in all aspects.

Beautiful cozy cottage with spectacular views of the Cascades from the porch, living room and the beachfront deck area.

We absolutely loved our stay in this cottage on Lummi Island. The decor is quirky and fun and the location cannot be beat. It was also exceptionally clean and the beds were very comfortable. We spent hours in the adirondack chairs over looking the water and Mt Baker. We stayed during the week so there was not any restaurant or cafe to eat at, but the local store was suprisingly well stocked. Great spot and we can't wait to return!

Awesome beach time
My family (with kids aged 15 and 9) was delighted to return to this great little home. The space is just as described and very comfortable, and the location could not be better - an easy ferry ride to your own private beach! We brought our kayaks, and also enjoyed the trails on the island. We love it here and can't wait to come back. Todd and Carrie are great hosts!!

Cozy Spot with Character
This spot is beautiful and cozy with an amazing view of Mount Baker. The trip out was fun, but in the winter make sure to check whether roads are closed due to flooding. (Our mistake!) Everyone we talked to on the island was friendly and welcoming, and huge props to the ferry crews - they are quick and efficient!! The house is clearly a loved and favorite family space and has a lot of character.

Reacquaintance retreat
The property was definitely as advertised. Close to Bellingham and yet felt far away. Good place to get reacquainted with old friend. Very quiet and secluded..Happened to be a time when none of the neighbors were there. Good place for stargazing. Maybe it was the time of year, but saw very few birds. No eagles. Had hoped to be able to walk on the beach, but for older folks (75+) a little too rocky. Only when the tide was out could we stroll along. The cottage was exceptionally clean and well equipped. Note: bring baggies or foil, etc. There was a burn ban, so no campfires at this time. That would have been the icing on the cake.

Fantastic family getaway!
We had such a wonderful getaway at Bula Beach House!! It’s a charming house, and the beachside location on this idyllic little island is amazing. Our family had such a fun and relaxing time searching for sand crabs on the beach, reading in the many lounge chairs, playing board games in the evenings, and exploring in our kayaks during the afternoons. We and our two kids, ages 8 and 14, can’t wait to return! Listing is just as described and pictured, and communications with the owners were helpful and easy.

We enjoyed our stay at the Bula Beach House. Can’t ask for better views, saw lots of wildlife and put the chimanea to good use. Clean and cozy. Restaurants were not open during our stay (besides Willows Inn $$$) and we were unaware that they would be closed.

Perfect getaway
This home was exactly what we were looking for in a quick weekend getaway for our 4 person family. The house was lovely and quirky and interesting and in a location that couldn't be any better. There was no TV, but that was not a problem with everything the location had to offer. Bring your exploring shoes! The only issues with the house were: The lack of firewood, which the owner was unaware of, but that wasn't a huge deal. Yet it would have been nice to have some to enjoy the chiminea on the beach. Another issue was the somewhat limited and lower quality kitchen setup. If you have a favorite knife, non-stick pan, etc bring it. Finally the drive down the hill to the property was super dicey in the snow. It is steep so if you don't have 4WD and there's significant, accumulated snow on the ground, you might reconsider because if you get down, you might not get back out. Anyway, despite these minor issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would visit again in a heartbeat.

Just what we needed
The value of this place is excellent. We are not willows and types so if you are this place might not be for you. We absolutely loved it. We would and will go again. It was our first time on Lummi Island and we had a great time discovering the area. It had everything you’ll need to enjoy your stay there. thank you for a great anniversary getaway.

Peaceful vacation experience. Deer included.
The cabin that we rented on peaceful Lummi Island was everything promised to be in the ad. We were completely charmed by the ambience and attention to detail in the cabin. My son the musician even serenaded us all one night with the little guitar that is there. The island is so peaceful and so friendly. The friendly deer that came into the yard every day was such a great added bonus! The doe even brought her twins to meet us one morning. The beach was so much fun with so so many shells and rocks to explore. At high tide it was fun walking through the sea grass on the sandy bottom with crabs. That was fun. Definitely a place that we look forward to returning to. Lummi Island is a great place and Bula cabin is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the island. Thank you.

Relaxing Get-Away So Close to Home
What a wonderful, restful right-on-waterfront cottage! VERY clean and well-stocked, warm and cozy, a little bit funky - this spot has it all. It was our first time exploring Lummi Island and Todd and Carrie's cottage was perfect for the two of us -- great location and a second couple could have easily fit as there was plenty of space. The east-facing view brought us glorious sun in the morning and moon rise at night. Todd and Carrie were very accommodating of our last minute request and provided excellent info to make our stay even better. Loved the original art and decor! Thank you for a fabulous four day stay!

Plums and Plenty of Love for Lummi
We loved our time at this property. The plums and waterfront access were so special, and the house was absolutely adorable! We could walk into town, practically jump to the water, and were surrounded by such yummy fruit and delightful people.

Perfect retreat
We snuck a quiet weekend in between visits to Vancouver and Seattle here. It was perfect! I immediately felt relaxed the moment we drove off the ferry. We were treated with a perfectly clear view of Mt. Baker on the first night of our stay. Driving the island we viewed many bald eagles, and were later visited by one on the beach in front of the cottage. The house was clean and inviting. We would recommend this place to anyone!

A cute cabin and lovely location
WE had a great time! The weather - despite forecasts of rain for 3 days - was perfect! We were able to have cocktails on the Beach Deck each evening. The hiking was great and Anchoring the boat out front worked out quite well. One small Glitch. We had planned to have one member of our party bring a canoe and some heavy food supplies over on the Car ferry. We only discovered that the car ferry was "in for maintenance" and unavailable a week before our stay. Fortunately we were able to make a new plan but it would have been nice to know when we made the reservation. All in all a great stay and a lovely location.

A Secluded Spot on a Secluded Island
A great place to get away from it all for a few days. The ferry is frequent, quick and cheap. House is a quick drive - or a longer walk. We walked to the store along the road and back on the beach. Windows open all night brings in a pleasant coolness and the ample supply of blankets can then be put to use. Just an amazing location - and we will be back!

The place is wonderful. Quiet and right on the water.
The house is fully equipped and the owners are responsive. I received an email when I arrived asking if all was well. The house is clean and well maintained.

Wonderful experience
The House was adorable and the location was perfect for our needs! It was neat and clean and well stocked - having a list on the internet of what was there for supplies and stuff would have been helpful. No TV was the only real bummer. The only suggestion I would make would be to add a hot tub-I would have paid more if one was available. Also some windows were missing screens and the fresh air would have been lovely but not without screens to keep the bugs out.

Bring your kayak and launch from backyard, great fun day on water
The property is fun, whimsical art, everything you need, fantastic deck overlooking Mt Baker. Our favorite was bringing our own kayak and launching from the backyard into the endless water of the sound, lots of places to get out and lunch around Lummi and Portage Islands, tides were not a big issue.
