Breakfast was amazing and the service was wonderful

Stuff was helpful and they have tried to resolve issues….
Not good. They put us (a family with two 11y kids) into a cold house, which was spacious, but no heating and no electricity. Beside load shedding, which we understand, they had some problems with electricity in Franschoek city; but they were aware of this and should have known, that it will be cold and dark. Later they put us in a hotel room, which was also cold (it was -3 degrees over night outside). Dinner is not good. Two different kind of trouts (??), no beef, one lamb and some sandwiches. Worst experience during our 3 weeks travel in SA in this wanna be classy resort (not to mention that accommodation costs were among top 3, including 5 star hotels we stayed in).

The suites are great for families
Not a general point, but there was no power during our visit. Would have been more of an issue if our stay was for longer.

Excellent breakfast and dinners - very comfortable - spa is a bit basic but the staff are great.
Rooms very comfortable
A little bit of a walk to get around but that could also be seen as a positive for some.

Breakfast was amazing!
Our wine was opened and our coke was drank. Our water was taken by the staff. This was a violation of our trust of the staff.

Staff are all friendly and willing to help. The hot tub was nice, the room was comfortable.
The hotel just misses the mark on so many levels. We were in an upstairs room in the rafters. This seems not to block noise very well and so we could hear conversations going on outside. Some people were in the hot tub talking loudly until 1.30am, which kept us away. Even tho the hot tub is supposed to close at 10pm, clearly staff were not monitoring this. The casual restaurant in the hotel takes place where breakfast is served and honestly feels like a high school canteen - really not cosy or pleasant in anyway and to say the food is mediocre is an understatement. Breakfast was decent but the staff very slow.

The breakfast was great as was the service.
The rooms are a bit stark and not very modern or warm feeling. They are very "hotel", not quite what you expect from the outside.

Great scenery and location. Comfortable bed.
Breakfast is very limited with only filter coffee or tea available. There’s no mini bar as advertised, the furniture is old, broken and stained. Design and decor desperately needs an update. No turn down service either.

The location is stunning and very convenient. The breakfast is good however the buffet selection was not up to standard of what I would expect from a 5 star resort. Everything else however was excellent.

The beds and pillows and location
No proper Curtains, breakfast wasn’t great , and definitely not worth R3800 a night

Beautiful area and lots of facilities to make use of.
Found it difficult to get hold of reception. Had to wait very long to get into our room though we were there early it meant that we couldn't get rest after a long flight before we were expected at our engagement.

beautiful location, stunning grounds and views. neat and clean!

The grounds on the property are well maintained, with a very tranquil ambiance throughout. An ultimate gem if all you want to do is relax and destress. It is also a very family friendly hotel, and the food at the restuarants is very good and nicely prepared and presented.
The breakfast selection is exceptional... a special touch with oysters and MCC to mix your own mimosa! The staff is welcoming and warm, and will go out of their way to assist, where they can.
The rooms are spacious, and loved the freestanding bath.
A little bit of refurbishment with the rooms is generally needed ( including the spa), e.g. curtains, removal of carpets, deco, roof, etc. The bathroom have been refurbished. The mouldy carpet smell in the room, made an otherwise comfortable room a bit unbearable to stay-in to enjoy the beautiful ambiance. The roof was leaking at the spa, had to walk over containers holding the water from the rain to get to the massage room. The jacuzzi bath by the pool was not working, even after asking maintainance to fix.The phone in the room not working, and had to walk all the way twice to the reception to report it, but the staff moved me to another room with had a working phone, which was nice of them. The hotel is quite far out from town to visit tourist attractions, and it is very difficult to organize transport to explore around Franschoek through the hotel, if they finally arrange it, it is ridiculously expensive. May be a complimentary guest shuttle to town and back once a day , will go a long way.

Breakfast was great - but one had to learn that the coffee/making was quite unusual. Plungers with ground coffee we’re on a table on which one had to pour hot water from a pump-can, but no one at that station to explain//help although admittedly they did so, if approached.
Our “Villa” (66) was in a poor state.
No hairdryer in either of the 2 bed/bathrooms - a card explaining one should ask for a hairdryer was supposed to be there, but wasn’t,
The sheercurtains in each bedroom were much too long and lying on the floor which makes them dirty and also easy to stumble when passing along the bedside.
No soap/shampoo holder in the shower.
The glass partition was partly loose - I could kind of fix it by hand. The metal bathroom doorhandle knocked on the glass partition (not even a simple plastic “button” to prevent that).
No luggage rack in either of the bedrooms.
A few fixed hangers in the cupboard that were made for a round rod, but very uncomfortable to move on the oval rods.
A path outside the house was provided so one could go around the house without the need to climb stairs on the outside and go down to the bedrooms on the inside. There was some half finished broken cement and some loose/uneven tiles that were hazardous.
A utility room in one bedroom was supposedly locked but as that was poorly done so one could access it. Inside were exposed electrical wires and rubbish in the corner. Very disorderly and a fire hazard.
From the terrace one looked into green that was partly ‘dead’ and should have been removed.
I complained to the Manageress and sent her the photos I had taken of all this.
They did subsequently attend to all these complaints and made amends but a hotel with this standing and rating should not have these issues to begin with. I felt we totally overpaid for our accommodation but the hotel was not forthcoming on anything - not even a coffee to thank us for pointing out their shortcomings. We will not stay at this property again! I hope this will be included in your comments so that other guests may be aware to watch out for similar issues.

Lovely setting and really comfy
The service wasn't great. Staff weren't particularly helpful with recommendations or instructions.
They had tennis courts but no rackets or balls
They ran out of towels for the pool
Drinks by the pool took 30-45 minutes

Beautiful surroundings and rooms very spacious and clean
TV channels poor as it seems the connection is not working properly. Breakfast set menu options could be improved if compared to other Hotels

the locations is good
they advertise as a smoke free hotel, but guests are smoking all over the terrace, to which the waiter and manager said to us, oh some people break the rules, very disappointing service for the price we paid, as well as the food being a very low level, we ordered the wagyu burger on night one, it was served with an old bagel as the bun, and the meat was as very sub par. we decided not to eat at the hotel for the rest of our stay. General manager was very rude when we gave our feedback and we actually asked to check out early because of the experience we had, his response was we don’t do refunds, we fully booked.

Location was beautiful, staff was very friendly and helpful. the little treats in the bedroom were a nice thoughtful surprise, and the food was great!
The room was a good size, only issue was the thatch, which accentuated the outside noises from the road. Not much you can do about that, except to chose a different type of room I guess.

the most beautiful property we have ever stayed on. the views were magnificent, the staff was impeccable, the bool was amazing, the food was SO SO GOOD!!!!
it was a bit far from town

Great location close to the centre of Franschhoek with great scenic views
Hotel definitely requires some maintenance work, I.e. bathroom door wouldn’t close and handles were loose in our villa. Staff were pleasant and helped to rectify issues faced but the majority could have been avoided. Significant noise from some of the bedrooms at night, I.e trucks outside and workers talking loudly
