The morning buffet was fantastic for both adults and kids!

The kid's lunch and dinner menu at the restaurant was very 'adult' (boiled cauliflower, large piece of meat); would be great with some kid-friendly items (e.g., pancakes, pizza, chicken nuggets...). Would be great to do our own cocking every so often, not feeling totally 'in the hands' of one restaurant while staying there.

Hotel was leaking in places and left puddles of water, drying room isn't heated so nothing really dries, not enough places to hang clothing in the room.

Great location. The preikestolen trailhead starts here. Great scenery. Great breakfast.

Very close to the Preikestolen, 1.5 - 2 hrs hike to the place and other hiking areas. This allowed us to stay a little bit longer up there (we descended a few minutes after sunset), tho the temperature dropped quite significantly during daytime and nighttime, so beware if you want to stay until sunset. Helpful staff too.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any electric kettle in the hut (either probably hidden or they don't have it), would be nice to have one. Also, would be nice to have a microwave as well in the hut. But this is more of a suggestion.

The base camp is the ideally located for anyone who wants to hike up to Preikestolen, especially if they want an early start. The room was comfortable, although a little noisy at night! We could hear people talking and serenading each other on the guitar through the thin walls. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Free parking right by the hotel was a big plus.

way too expensive for the 6m2 room and a breakfast made of gold i think. also shared bathrooms that come from ancient times and are not really that clean. the beds you have to make yourself. in other words, maximal capitalising from tourism to see a piece of rock

Location, location, location, location. Location was 10 out of 10 and because of that I can totally recommend that place. It was pretty basic, I had shared bathroom (in the same building - Budget Preikestolhytta), but it was manageable. Food was very good and it was eating with THE VIEW. Also it's just at the start of Preikostolen hike so very comfortable to go there.

Sole fact that room didn't had electric outlets near the bed is one thing, but the fact that they don't have electricity when you turn off the light is simply weird and it's very hard to charge your device during the night if you don't want to sleep with light turned on. Wifi was pretty fast, but my room wasn't in range of it.

Great location, right at TH to Preikestolen. Beautiful view of the lake inside and out. Excellent buffet breakfast, and good dinner too (reasonable #of selection and tasty). We stayed for 2 nights in the family room; there were ample space for our family of 3 and many shelves/hooks. We hiked in the rain both days; the dry room was a great place to dry our wet outerwear quickly! The Spanish young man who checked us in, served us dinner was very friendly and helpful! If we return to this region, will def stay here again.

There's only 1 inconvenience - the small shower which flooded the whole bathroom. We just placed a floor towel to fill the big gap below the glasd shower door. It was not a big deal, we managed fine. There was also a funny smell in the 2nd floor hallway... cleaning chemicals?? Our room did not smell which was good.

Location is unbeatable. Good breakfast buffet. Room should have a great view if weather is good.

No elevator. Had to carry suitcases up the stone stairs to the lobby and then upstairs to 2nd floor.

Amazing location. Very clean and basic accommodation, but this is the exact thing we wanted without sacrificing comfort.

Sometimes it felt a bit cold inside our rooms, but more warm outside of the rooms. apart from that, it was really nice.

Location was the best, right next to the trailhead. Parking is included, just need to get a QR code before checkout. Showers have good water pressure and hot water, beds are comfortable and clean. Code is provided well in advance. Cute window. They provide soap for washing hands and showering. Towels and linens are provided.

Creaky loud floors, the flush button for the toilet kept getting stuck, and we would have to continually push it to loosen it back up. The angle of the room next to the bed was really awkward and you had to maneuver yourself to avoid hitting the wall. No hair dryer. Ran out of soap in the shower Limited places to hang or put things on. Only 1 small window for the mountain view. No dedicated reception staff to talk to for concerns, you have to try to get the attention of the staff for the restaurant for any questions. Breakfast times are awkward 7-9:30 am, not able to give any packed breakfast if you want to hike earlier. Checkout is early at 10- 10:30 am. It gets the job done.

Preikestolen BaseCamp is in a stunning location at the foot of the iconic Preikestolen hike, moments from the trailhead. It overlooks a gorgeous lake with easy access to great hiking trails. The modern lodge is clean, new and chic, though we stayed in the older Preikestolhytte which used to be a DNT hut (more on that below). We had dinner in the restaurant and while it was quite pricey like most things in Norway, the portions were generous and the food well-executed with healthy options available. Breakfast buffet was solid (though coffee could be better). If you're OK splurging for the modern rooms or if you value being right at the trailhead (which does get crowded with day trippers, so an early start helps a lot!) it is a pleasant place to be for a night or two.

We stayed in the older lodge which is much more rustic. We love rustic - most of our trip we stayed in unstaffed DNT huts - but we didn't find this lodge to be great value in comparison. We had a tiny (but clean) bunk room right by the noisy stairs, shared bathrooms/showers, and we were given fresh linens but had to make our own beds. For less than $10 more per night, we'd had a much nicer room with full service and a private bathroom at the staffed DNT lodge in Lysebotn which is more remote. This setup would've been great for a lower price (maybe $75/night instead of $130/night). The building is lovely and cozy with a common room overlooking the lake, but needs a few homey touches like candles and a kettle to boil water, as well as the DNT norm of leaving dirty (and noisy!) hiking boots at the front door rather than wearing them inside. The staff might benefit from additional training on the facilities. Our welcome email mentioned a clothes drying room but the staff member I asked seemed surprised by my request and sent me to the supply closet for the bathrooms. (If that's the drying room I wouldn't call it one.) The information desk was rarely occupied. So the operation could use that last bit of professionalism.
