Perfect location if your travelling across the south coast for work & need to stop for the night.
No signs outside or directions on notification. The post code took me to a Texaco fuel station where there is a separate Greggs & Sub Way. I had to phone the number on the paperwork to ask where they were located, I was told they are behind Greggs & if I go into Greggs they will give me the key. After a wait in Greggs a man came from the fuel station with the key, not a great service when you've been on the road 12 hours & your tired.
The room smelt damp & was only cleaned on the surface, I dropped a pen down the back of the desk (a light item with no backing), when I retrieved it there was a lighter & lip seal behind the desk including thick dust.
One person for the night when you just need a bed & shower its fine but I would not stop with a partner or family.

I was looking for somewhere to stay on my way home to Portsmouth from Exeter that was simple to access, clean, warm and cheap and Pitstop met all those criteria.
The room was spotless, warm and comfortable.
It was a little noisy backing straight on to the A35 but I knew that, that was part of its attraction in a way, I was not looking for a holiday but convenience.
The room was great value. I have paid twice as much before for scruffier, dirtier rooms. I had no idea the price included breakfast too. Please don't put the price up as a result of this comment! £39 for warm, comfy, clean room with breakfast - epic.
The staff were friendly on the phone and face-to-face.
I make a couple of observations about Room 4 (not complaints) - I could not tune the TV to reliably watch BBC or a number of other channels - it kept pixcelating and freezing. Also I could not make the mixer tap divert to shower from bath.
Also it felt a bit weird being the only person on site at night. No staff or other guests and slightly dark entrance around the back. It didn't bother me but it might bother some. A light in the corridor to rooms 3 and 4 would be nice too.
I would definitely use again. Our daughter is at Uni at Exeter and this will be a perfect, straightforward over-nighter.
This facility would not be everybody's cup of tea. But if you are looking for a simple, cheap, clean and friendly over night stop with super easy access to the main routes - look no further!

Clean room with everything you need. Despite being close to a busy road, we couldn't hear the traffic at all.
Breakfast was good and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Great choice at a good price.
The WiFi would not connect at all. This has apparently been an issue for a while and the owners are trying to fix the problem.
This was the only negative in a positive stay.

Stayed here many times, also my 1st choice when working in the area, good parking, comfortable rooms, and breakfast in the morning from 7am.

We decided to stop after a long drive. Didn't expect much but were pleasantly surprised.
Very clean and comfortable. Large airy room, plenty of tea and coffee, and surprisingly quiet considering we were on a very busy road. Cooked breakfast included in the price.
Wifi wouldn't connect.

Good basic rooms with a small, but well cooked breakfast. Shower left a bit to be desired, either freezing cold or boiling hot, but managed in the end.
Outside is quite scruffy, let down the feel of the place, no chairs to sit on, we had a little time to kill, but the café was closed, lovely warm day but nothing to sit on except the bed.

The single room was very newly decorated. Bed softer than usual but very comfortable. Tea and Cofee Kettle etc. A full bath with shower and all cleaning products. Very nice

Very, well prepared, clean room with plenty of space. Parking close to the room door which is excellent for the disabled traveller.
Adequate cooked “small breakfast” at no extra charge in the adjacent cafe which was smart and where staff were welcoming.
Room needs a chair at the desk and a comfortable arm chair from which to watch the small tv. The guest Wi-Fi did not connect - contrary to printed instructions: no one to whom this could be reported as reception closes after 5p.m: told the next morning in the cafe it was a problem! I had planned to use it all evening.
Shower tray needs re-sealing; showing early signs of mould.
The cafe is closed in the evening so no warm food - only the usual sandwiches etc from the site garage. How far to an alternative after a long journey?
