Noting
Built in 1975, tired and a shame to the Serena group to have such a rundown shabby hotel. Far from the city, no room cards have to use a big old key with a huge wooden tag. Everything in the room old, room door lock was hard to ope, fridge was rattling and was loo sided. Toilet fittings were stained, from the shower heads to the fittings, mosquito net had holes, hard pillows, hard bed, no room water bottles, tv was grainy and had 6 channels, AC horrible and rattling, basically a dump. Wanted to use the business lounge and when directed it was shared with the medical room. The computers were so old and don’t load, gave up. Food was okay but watching the crows in the restaurant pecking at the food put me off. Went near the pool for food and some buns were placed on the table. A massive money jumped over my shoulder and took the food which was scary due to rabies.

Waiting always long for a long time in the breakfast and restaurant for coffee and butter. Buffet is good but anything you order takes really long time before you get it.

Superb location. We were surprisingly upgraded to a presidential suite, which was an amazing gesture by the hotel. Couldn't be happier ☺️

Really enjoyed our stay! The staff are so friendly, and really go out of their way to ensure that you are well looked after at all times. We did the breakfast included option and the breakfast everyday was so amazing; one of the best breakfast buffets I have enjoyed in a while! The hotel itself is beautiful, and super clean.

The incredibly attentive staff, the space and cleanliness of the rooms, the food in the grill restaurant, the ping-pong and snooker tables, the tea at four o’clock
The weather but that’s not the Hotel’s fault

The rooms were comfortable, food was delicious and staff were exceptional
The amenities are a bit dated, no smart TV and no USB ports in the rooms

Friendliness of staff
Waiter who remembered the next morning that I had asked for toast the day before and offer it again
Quiet, spacious pool / garden area as not packed with guests
Choice of food: as we did not eat outside the hotel we struggled to enjoy the meals 3x daily. Tried the seafood restaurant but we were the only guests and the food was okay but not more than that so we did not return. The other dinner option was a buffet for 3500 KES which I think is expensive for the selection offered, or room service. Until 15h there was also an a la carts menu which offered sufficient choice for lunch.
Big number of crows made you keep an eye on your food at all times. They would watch you the moment your lunch or coffee (with cookie) arrived. Sometimes also monkeys. Waiters tried to chase them but they were back less than a minute later.
Drinks took a long time: cappuccino at the pool would take 20-25 minutes although only a handful guests around and also wine seemed to be stored very far away from any location ordered.
Although we enjoyed that the hotel was not packed, it seemed deserted at times. We were told rooms were occupied by conference guests.
Beach is only a small strip without beach loungers. The moment you leave hotel grounds and access the sand local salesmen will come very close. It’s not possible to enjoy a walk on the beach as they will follow.
Balcony door needs to be kept closed as monkeys are around. No problem but sliding door was difficult to handle (would not slide).

For me, it fully met my expectations although these might just be average.
I am still struggling to find something.

There were wonderful activities each evening which kept us entertained.
The WiFi is so poor in the rooms.
The waiters and waitresses at the dining area pay more attention to you if you are white. If you are black, expect mediocre service.

Delay in some foods.

The location was really nice along with the staff. The staff was gracious enough to allow a complimentary extension to the room when our flight got delayed. The ground, along with the wild monkeys was something that my daughter enjoyed.
There was only one pool which was mostly full when half the resort was unoccupied. It was not bad right now, but that might be an issue during the peak season.

The waiter service. food took long to serve

The location was superb wonderful gardens without being overcrowded over looking the sea, The staff were always attentive and looked after all of our needs as individuals not just another person. Breakfast was a casual affair no rush with a wonderful spread. A fantastic place to unwind and relax without the hustle and bustle of a big hotel

Breakfast was decent
Poor service. Waited 1.5 hours to get my room ready. Folks were unbothered until I had checked in. I was told dinner was complimentary, I was charged for it the next day, basic dishonesty. The check in and check out process along with charges was simply disappointing.
