I had an amazing stay for my birthday. The staff and owners were really helpful with getting around and just information I needed on the area. the breakfast was more than enough. Pictures do not capture the essence of the place or the people. This place is magical. I will be visiting again soon. Like any other country you’re visiting, keep your wits about you and BE POLITE.

The food was second to none, the variation, choice & quality were superb. It was served beautifully and with plenty of variation of areas of where we could have it. As for the quality, location, cleanliness and everything else about this property it most certainly couldn't have been any better, i only wish we had been staying with Jean for a much longer time. We will be going back.

The property is a little remote BUT transport to all areas very good (taxis, buses, trams). Dinner service would have been really good so that option to stay at the property in the evening rather than go out every night would be a big plus

Even after thoughtful consideration we would say there was nothing we didn’t like. If we had to choose one thing to give as constructive feedback it is the connection with the city.

I booked Rio144 during my biz trip to Rio de Janeiro. The hotel is located in the mountains of Santa Teresa with a phenomenal view on sugar loaf mountain and Cristo Redentor; absolutely amazing. Rio144 has a wonderful rooftop terrace incl. small pool. If you would like to have your peace away from busy Rio - go here! The team is always happy to help and you are being treated like a member of the family. The breakfast is freshly made with love. I can definitely recommend to go there!

We can not recommend staying at Rio144 enough! After spontaneously deciding to stay in Rio for a few more nights, we checked in with Jean and were so impressed with the hotel - from the warm, hospitable staff to the beautiful rooms and stunning views of the city and sugarloaf mountain. Anytime we felt like going into the city we just ordered an uber, but staying at Rio144 also offered the possibility of exploring nearby Santa Teresa. Every morning we would be served a delicious breakfast - a great start to the day. Thank you so much Jean & Co for a lovely stay!

The hotel is beautiful, with an incredible view. The staff are very nice and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The whole place is beautifully decorated. The breakfast is also very good.

Unfortunately, location is bad. There is nothing within walking distance of the hotel and even the closest restaurant is a 10-15 min cab ride if you can get a cab. Taxis do not know how to find the hotel, Uber drivers can't find it even though the address is "registered" with Uber. The physical address references the main street below the hotel and does not indicate that the driver needs to go all the way up the winding hill. If you are in the taxi and you do know your way, you either have to convince the taxi to go up the hill, or be ready to walk up it. Given how unsafe everyone says this neighborhood is, I was nervous to be walking the hill at night, as it's really in the forest, and right next to a favela. At night, it was impossible to find a taxi to go back to the hotel. I would not recommend this to anyone looking to take advantage of the Rio nightlife as it was extremely difficult to get back at night. If you only plan to go out during the day then I think it's fine, I was able to find taxis during the day. If you do book make sure you have internet access or download offline maps to be able to arrive there the first day. If I hadn't had 4G to call Thalita for help the Uber would never have found the place. Even though I enjoyed my experience, I wouldn't come back here because transportation such a hassle. Finally I would say that 10 reals is abusé to ask for a self service nespresso coffee. On dirait Paris!

Absolutely INCREDIBLE STAY - STUNNING. This place is next level - amazing location right at the top of Santa Teresa, infinity (barriered) pool with panoramic views across Rio inc Sugarloaf Mt. and Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer). Rooms are stunning, massive beds with memory foam mattresses and the same panoramic views. Excellent facilities. Stunningly decorated, lovely facilities, just beautiful and gorgeous. Really friendly (but discreet/not OTT) team - Jean and family (owners) are lovely and so was reception manager Thalita and the rest of the team. Nice honesty bar policy where you can help yourself to drinks and pay at the end. The hotel is an absolute must-stay but a few notes: - Accessibility wise please check with Jean if you have specific needs before booking in - it's right at the top of a very steep hill (hence the AMAZING vistas). We were fine (the hotel is a registered address on Uber and most of them were happy to stop reasonably close to the top of the hill), however some yellow taxis don't know the address so you need to be pretty clear with them in terms of instructions. - Food: The hotel provides a fabulous breakfast. There are also cooking facilities if you would like to do some self-catering at lunch/dinner, and good sized fridges in the rooms. As mentioned we easily travelled the area through a combo of walking (daytime only!) and Ubers, and ate predominantly in the fabulous local(ish) restaurants Aprazivel, Tereze, Lilia (Lapa) etc etc. I think ordering food delivery might be difficult here due to the location, but on a couple of days/evenings when we wanted to chill (or had an early start next day) we just bought a selection of cheeses/chutneys/meats/breads etc from the supermarket and relaxed on the terrace with beers.

This place is incredible, it's a must-stay (couple notes above re location etc but you don't get these views without this location!!!)

Breakfast every day, friendly staff, we had a late check-in (2AM) and they accommodate accordingly, we had a great view of the city/beach in our room and on the rooftop.

It can be tough for uber drivers to find the address, so give specific instructions. Learn how to say “straight, right, and left“ in Portuguese to help drivers get through the last street back to the hotel.

We have received a really nice welcome by Jean and felt like at home. The view is just outstanding! Breakfast nicely done served by Édouard ! People were always smiling :) we really recommend this place to disconnect, relax and enjoy an amazing view on Rio.

We had an amazing stay! And oh my god this view... Such a view when waking up is very hard to beat. Apart from that a very stylish hotel, with a great breakfast. Everything freshly prepared. The owner is very friendly and helpful and will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Looking forward to go back again one day.

it takes time to get the taxi. Uber black doesn’t work for picking up but if you going back from the other Rio neighborhoods, it would be fine

This place is incredible. The pictures and the description do not do this place justice. It is far superior to what we thought we were going to get. The view is amazing.. the set up is easy .. and it's very discreet in its location
