What a nice place! Close to everything and not too expensive for where it is

Had a wonderful stay. Great dining options and friendly staff. Property is very historical.

Great liocation, but the room did not match the description or photos and was in need of a refresh. The common areas were nice, but the smell of fish from the resturant could be smelled throughout the common areas and first floor. Friendly staff, nice reading room.
5.0
A clean and well kept property. Has preserved Victorian heritage and abound in classic style.
Must have experience

Charming building but full if mice on 1st floor. Great coffee/tea service, reading room, library, and locker rooms. Big room but pricey on value.

Like = Quiet property, friendly staff, location to harbor
Dislike = stairs to get to the front door were a bit difficult with luggage.

So convenient to Harbour Air terminal and all of downtown area. In a safe location. Loved the hot coffee in the morning. Very comfortable accommodation and the staff were amazing. I will return.

It has character.

Wonderful boutique hotel. Old world charm with new world amenities within or nearby. Take note of the stairs in the picture as the entrance is not clearly marked. The hotel staff were all amazing. I enjoyed riding in the oldest elevator in Victoria. Room/bed were clean and comfortable and the location is perfect. I would definitely stay again.

This hotel was so great. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was amazing along with the character with such an old hotel! Having the original elevator with metal grates and wooden door was so fun! We really enjoyed our stay!

Centrally located, great staff, and a really nice, comfortable room with a view!

Most hotels in this price range provide a couple of bottles of water - not here. No drinking glasses, only wine glasses. No alarm clock and the robes are really worn and frayed. Having said that, it's a beautiful property, staff is excellent and the location is great. My gripes are minor, just saying they could up their game a bit.
1.0
Thin walls, unaccompanied children, and no staff available to address it. It just wasn't a place to sleep. For place with rules that include a dress code, I expected a better experience. The room was also dirty and the walls had improperly patched holes and scapes everywhere.

Everything was fine. The only downside was that .... the only parking available for guests is either on the street if you can find a paid spot or some distance away in a public parkade.

It was great to stay in such a wonderful heritage property and a wonderful experience
2.0
The hotel is historic but with that comes the challenges of older buildings, no a/c, antiquated and tiny elevator, tiny room and small bathroom. Would have been good to know ahead of time that there is a strict dress code that goes with this being a private club. Parking was a couple of blocks away and only accessible in the evenings with a pass from the front desk.

A great historic hotel. Beautiful inside and the patio dining was great.

Beautiful architecture. Property was obviously a grand inn/club in its day. Has become a little tired. Some of the furnishings were not to the standard one would expect, especially in the room. Staff was very nice and helpful.
5.0
Very unique club atmosphere. Rooms and finishings were a bit retro sort of old school, but very comfortable. The only small issue is that if you have a vehicle to park, the parkade is a couple of blocks away. It is very secure so no issues that way, just a bit of a walk to get there.

This is a big like staying at the Empress, but quieter. I loved that the windows opened fully. It is a very old world kind of place with an extensive art collection. The food in the dining room is quite good. It is a little odd not having coffee in the room as you have to wait until 7 am or go out. It is a membership club foremost and they are serious about the dress code. An interesting experience and I would stay here again.

Probably wouldn’t stay here again, room was lovely but no coffee maker in room, had to carry our luggage up stairs to get into the building, parking was off site.

Hotel was beautifully decorated however the building and room smelt. The historic elevator was fun to use. The rooms were less than average and lacked many amenities of hotels.

Needs room updating and in-room coffee makers would be nice. I appreciate the age of the building but the rooms and furniture are very dated.

It has an old school vibe to it.

There were mice at the reading room; where it was provided a buffet. I mentioned to the staff but it seems like it was not news to them.
