Absolutely horrible horrible access routes to this hotel. Pick any other place.

Very good location

Access road to the property was horrible and similar was the parking situation. It took more than 45 minutes to get my car out. Room charges were exorbitant. The mattress was 'spring type' and hurt the back. Floor boards were squeaky. Staff was very helpful, especially the duty manager Mr. Arun. Food quality was great with a lot of variety.

Not a good one, basic amenities were not provided like hand towels, washroom was flooding though corrected later, very slow service restaurant

The stay was not comfortable at all. 1. The rooms given to us didn't had a tea kettle and the room service didn't delivery tea as they were short of staff. 2. Got the TV working after multiple complaints. 3. Request for room heater was fulfilled after full 24 hrs of request 4. And to make the things ever more terrible, the security guard opened the side door of the room and came into our room at 11pm without even knocking or informing us. Ridiculous.. and to top it all answer given was that they were just checking the door lock

Ooty town and the surrounding slopes (other than tea gardens) are littered with plastic and garbage. Nightmare traffic, poor road maintenance, and surging crowds - not what you expect at a getaway hill destination. Fern Hill resort was mixed - crowded, little noisy. The facility is clean, but needs better maintenance. The plumbing needs an upgrade, the TV didn't work, the window stays were broken. The espresso machine was not working for many days.

A very average stay to sum it up. Property - A very nice property far removed from the bustle of the city. Just about the only plus I must say. Rooms - Rooms are of decent size with good views. But upon checking-in I was told that the Hotel does not provide any toiletries. When I requested for Soaps, Shampoos etc., I was told to use the Shower gel instead. They finally provided me with the items after a lot of haggling. Also, special mention is to be made regarding the soiled and dirty linen/towels that they provided even after repeated complaints. Dining & Restaurant - The quality of food is below par. The breakfast buffet is barely passable and there aren't a lot of options to go A la carte even at dinner time. The dishes are inconsistent. Stayed there for a week and I ordered mutton dishes(Indian) on most of the days and at times I was served a different dish on different days even though I ordered the exact same Mutton Masala. It was also amusing to be told by different waiters that mutton was unavailable on some occasions. They would somehow oblige to check with the chef after I inform them that I did have mutton the previous day. Then there are the live counters that have people apologizing that they would try to make a dosa when you ask for one. Wonder why inexperienced chefs are preparing food that they aren't comfortable with. Service was commendable though and a few of the waiters like Radhakrishnan, Ramesh provided excellent service.

An excellent property and I think it is one of the best locations in Ooty. Hotel staff are courteous. I would have been very happy to give a 5 start to this hotel. But, they need to improve in their house keeping and check the room appliances throughly before allotting it to the guest. The toilet flush went bad twice, the room heater stopped working on the first day. Yes, the staff attended to those complaints. But, on holiday, who would like to register complaints early in the morning that the flush stopped working, that too twice within a period of 4 days!? In spite of this, I liked the place very much, its location, serene beauty of wide valley that one can enjoy from the window also.

We went during christmas 2015 and the noise of the kids kept us awake for longer than we wanted. Definitely recommend for family with kids. Not recommended for business travelers (no wifi in the room and distance from the city); not recommended for couples without kids.

The shower mixer was really bad , either you get really hot water or really cold water . very bad ...

Cleanliness not upto mark

I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel but had a bad time reaching the hotel. Firstly it is hard to find the hotel then had a hard time getting to it through the worst roads in ooty. Finally when you reach the hotel, its like reaching heaven, broad roads, ample parking, lovely staff, beautiful rooms n view, good food n an overall lovely experience.

Its wordless. Rocking. My cheers to all the staffs especially housekeeping people such as Mary etc... I also would like to include Ms. Malini who gave an extraordinary service to us.

Fernhill is a nice hotel, enjoyed my stay there. Couple of points:1. NO lifts: there are no lifts in the hotel. If you specific requirements plan accordingly.2. Breakfast in Fern restaurant is quite good, but keep an eye on your table. You may find somebody else sitting there, once you came back from buffet.3. Staff is quite friendly and very helpful.Overall, I had a very pleasant stay there.

If u r looking 4a decent stay option....fern hill is the right choice.the rooms promises a beautiful view of the city.....the comfort level is great....the staff is warm and hospitable. The only negative is the proximity from the main city......around 8kms....but if u plan to drive down in ur own vehicle....,then shouldn't b an issue. To sum up it is the value 4 money deal.

It was a very pleasant stay at the Fernhill. I would certainly recommend it. Staff were very helpful, and the ambience is very good.

It has real good infrstructure which brings in the wow factor while moving in and while being there however they still lag at the quality of service front. The under par quality of service becomes more evident when it comes to addressing the event and person specific needs like organizing a candle light dinner etc. In overall perspective, it's good place to enjoy your vacation and I would really recomend that.

Sterling Fernhill is one of the best maintained hotels in their group. We visited Ooty in May'13 when the climate was no different from bangalore unfortunately during our stay. But everytime you entered the Fernhill property there is a pleasantness in the climate too along with host of other things. The staffs were pleasant & wanting to help you anytime. Excellent holiday activity planned to engage the guests. Food was exemplary although the rates are a little high. We loved the place and mostly stayed indoor to get the best out of this place. You have to admit that the hotel is situated roughly around 4 kms away from main attractions/city. The road leading to the hotel is a uphill & narrow. You have to be careful while negotiating with other vehicles passing by around in this vicinity. Since the property is recently renovated (I was told) the lift is missing in action and our room was in the 2nd floor..well you could imagine....All around this is far by the best one for the tag it comes with......
