We were very happy with our stay! Helpful and nice staff. Great food. Absolutely beautiful location and nice rooms. A bit thin walls maybe, but other than that it was amazing. Very clean.

The hotel is very rustic and feels like it fits within the ambience of Zanzibar. located right on the white sands next to the Indian Ocean with restaurants nearby, that are accessible by walking along the beach. The owners and staff were so welcoming and truly lovely people. The hotel is of a size where you get to know the staff and they know you. Highly recommend it.....

This is a great place to spend a relaxing few days. The room was large, clean, and comfortable, with a great view of the ocean. The staff is beyond friendly and responsive. And the food is tasty and reasonably priced.

A lovely hotel located right on the beach with a great outside decked area.
Room was good with a balcony with partial sea view. Shower good with hot water. The matress on the bed however was the hardest mattress i've ever slept on!! I didnt complain as i had read a similar comment on some elses review.
Breakfast was okay, a little limited in choice but that seems to be the case with most African hotels. I was disappointed one morning when i asked for the pancakes with banana & honey. When it arrived it was just pancakes!! I then asked what happened to the rest of it and another waiter said that they had run out of bananas!! In Africa really!! I did get the honey.
The beach is wounderfull and great for long walks. The pool and garden area is also very nice. Dinner was generally a good choice, however i used to venture along the beach and try some of the local establishments including Bobs garden restaurant which was pretty good and not expensive.
Staff were all friendly, though i did ask for an early breakfast one day as was due to go diving at 8am and even though the booklet in the room said they can provide breakfast at 7am when i asked for it at 7:15am they said they could do me a packed breakfast! Even though they start breakfast at 7:30am. I did bring that to the attention of management later that day who stated that shouldn't have been the case.
Dive centre just along the beach and diving off Memba island was pretty good and probably the best location in Zanzibar.

Stayed over Christmas payed 220€ a night, AC worked but was not ajustable so straight In your face or off. Breakfast was ok but nothing special and very slow. Next to the hotel is a empfy house where locals used to hang out, listen to loud music, shouting to each other and just disturb the quit and peace you maybe look in Villa Kiva.
Moreover I would definitely prefer a different place! Have seen many places where you got more for your money!

The resort was clean and the room was spacious. I paid for the upgrade to ocean view and am glad I did that. We had a large balcony (on 2nd floor) that provided shade and a nice breeze.
Restaurant was also good and I enjoyed the pizza.
The pools were small and looked “tired”. Could use a refresh. The beach cabanas were nice though and we used those.
Paid some young boys to navigate the urchins at low tide out to the reef. It was fun to do!

Excellent service from staff. A quiet and peaceful place great for a weekend getaway. Fabulous snorkelling and swimming with dolphins. Entertainment with Maasai dancers in evening. A very enjoyable stay.

This truly is a hidden gem as far as a wonderful place to relax. There is a gorgeous beach, fantastic staff, a facility to sign up for diving and snorkeling right there and you can walk down the beach to board the boat. The ocean was pristine, the pools warm, plenty of lounges to lay on, and did I mention the staff was one of the friendliest I have come across. Because it is small, we were able to get to know many of the guests there which was an added bonus. If you want a lively nightclub atmosphere or fast pace place, this is not it. If you want to relax and enjoy yourself with peace and quiet, there is no better place. The prices were very reasonable though DO BRING cash if you want to eat outside of the hotel or go on excursions..

Villa Kiva was a great experience for me and my friend. We loved the staff, the environment and the accommodations. The water in the shower was very salty but everything else was wonderful. The food that they served was great, especially at dinner time.

We stayed in a room with sea view which was close to the beach and restaurant. The food at the hotel was very good and the staff were attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Good facilities with 2 pools and the stand to book excursions to Mnemba which we’d highly recommend. There are touts who approach you as soon as you step onto the beach but they were mostly harmless and not too pushy. Overall would recommend a stay here for people looking for a quiet stay in beach paradise.

Villa Kiba is a nice hotel located directly on a beautiful white sand beach. The suite is spacious and well equipped for the comfortable staying. The bed is a bit hard.
Due to low tide, we had opted to stay close to swimming pools in the hotel. The pools are cleaned regularly. There are sufficient number of sun beds around the pools.
The food in restaurant is great. There is good selection of choices for the buffet breakfast. The lunch/dinner menu is also good. All meals we tried there were delicious. The wine card is fine with majority of South African staff.
The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. We had really a pleasant stay in Villa Kiva.

Villa Kiva hotel was much better than expected. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are well maintained.

Loved the boutique hotel, perfect number of guest rooms to have an atmosphere without it being too busy or too large. Happy hour cocktails each evening, wonderful dinners with a catch of the day and a mixture of local and international palates (some of the Swahili dishes were delicious), and a good breakfast with lots of options and loads of fruit. Friendly welcoming staff, beautiful rooms and we had a great view out over the white sand beach and the sea. Lovely areas around the pools with lots of flowers.Expected the high/low tide to be more of an issue than it was. Not much fish to see if snorkelling from the beach. Thanks for a great stay!

Villa Kiva was a wonderful place to spend a week in Matemwe. The hotel arranged everything from airport transfer to meals to excursions for me, and the staff are helpful and friendly. Even though the area feels miles from any major town, the resort amenities (hot water, wifi, A/C) were comfortable and worked much better than I would have expected. The beach and surrounding ocean are stunning, and its the perfect place to recline on a beach chair and simply relax with a drink while listening to the ocean.
