Great hotel very friendly staff clean rooms century located right in Portland. Lots of options for breakfast, lunch or dinner we will be going back again.

Wonderful stay here for an overnight trip! Just what we needed and will definitely be back.

Trash on the floor, fridge was dirty on the out side and wrap in the back of the fridge! Hand lotion half empty! Not able to get the room cool enough to sleep! It was either to hot or to cold! Set it to 60 and we were overheating! Hot tub was great and the pool was nice! Pool area needs repair on the floor! Stones on the floor coming up!

Not a horrible stay but the elevator was not currently up to date on inspection and the elevator was super loud, shook a lot, and was super slow. The fact that breakfast wasn't included in our stay but was advertised as included online was frustrating and when we went to the ice machine there was no ice on our floor which was also very frustrating. We were excited to stay on the 6th story (top level) but the view sucked and was very underwhelming. There was nothing special about this hotel that would make me recommend it again but not a horrible hotel either

Rooms need updating, hair in tub, room freaked of a perfume odor

Everything was pretty clean. The homeless encampment next door was kind-of sketchy

Stayed one night with family that includes two young children. The room was clean and the beds were comfy. Pool was refreshing. Didn’t eat at the restaurant. Was nice having free parking and easy to come and go. Great distance from the Cross Insurance Arena.

Stayed here last year and loved it so can't back this year. This hotel is the perfect price point and location for a weekend getaway to hit up some breweries. Plus it's reliably clean and has a pool and hot tub for relaxing.

Stay was fine. However, they did not realize we had a dog with us, even though I had selected pet friendly on the reservation. They had initially given us a room on a floor without pets. They said that information never came through on the reservation system. My concern is going forward is DOES THE HOTEL GET THE INFO THAT WE NEED A ROOM IF WE HAVE OUR DOG. I don’t want to get somewhere and they say sorry no rooms available to accommodate us. PLEASE ADVISE!

The bedding was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was the same. Excellent toweling and instant hot water. If I had been staying multiple days, there was great convenience in having a 'fridge and microwave. Sorry the restaurant wasn't open in the evening but we appreciated the ability to eat our take out in the dining area. (Friends staying in the same hotel.)

It was just ok. Definitely needs an update. The bedding was ok but the mattress need to be updated. For the price we paid it was good.

Mold in bathroom, poorly patched up walls. Overpowering "glad" scents masking musky carpets gave me a terrible headache. Restaurant closed, pool and hot tub had cloudy water. Disappointing stay.

Outlets in the walls were loose which created a fear of fire and being unable to use outlets next to the bed including the lamp. We did let front staff know at check out…

Nice hotel for a quick stop before heading on vacation...its a great location to airport, bus and train.....staff has always been friendly...never any issues or hassles

They need another person at the desk. This is twice I have had to wait and wait and wait just to check in and out. They also need to take the restaurant off the site. It hasn't been open either times I've been here.

The staff were wonderful, the bathroom floor was sticky - the overall smell of the property was a put off

Easy to make it to the airport. It was a little tricky traversing some hallways because of renovations but I’m sure the completed floors will be much better

Loved it here! Very quiet and very close to downtown.

Rude staff and inconsistent communication

I showed upbwith an older Maine state IDcand i wss refused a room becaause the KID at tge desk had never seen one like mine Didnt matter that it was a valid iD with my picture, DL # and the Maine state seal. All i could th8nk was what if i was grom Oklahoma..?? Would they refuse me a room because theyve never seen an Oklahoma ID Noone else has so much as looked twice at it anywhere else ive been...bars, restaurants, cinvenience stores for cigs & alcohol...even US Cellular took i. The problem wasnt with my ID, it was with the staff and the lack of training theyve recieved

Although the bathroom could use updating, it was perfectly clean and serviceable. The water pressure was phenomenal. The bed had luxurious linens and was extremely comfortable. The room itself was spacious and easy to get to with two working elevators at each end of the hall. From the front desk to the cleaning staff, everyone was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was tasty for $14 per person: worth it if you’re hungry and super convenient. The location was ideal for downtown travel, with Lyfts only costing about $9 if you don’t want to drive and worry about parking. When I go back to Portland, I’ll stay at the Clarion again!

I didnt expect much from booking the Clarion Portland, its a fairly cheap hotel with a not great review score so i expected minor issues here and there about cleanliness and such but the second night of my stay when returning to the hotel i could not open the door to my room which had all my belongings unpacked in it. It turned out the room had somehow accidentally bolted itself shut when i closed it earlier that day meaning my belongings were secure but in getting to this revelation i learned that i was marked a no-show at check-in the day before (despite checking in at the front desk in person) and that some family had been assigned my room that day while i was out before being assigned another room since mine had been locked apparently due to mechanical failure. Ultimately i was booked in another room for the night and maintenance were able to get the door open the next day but this incident mixed with the general uncleanliness of the property mixed with its not great location (which to be fair is partly a portland business hours problem) made the stay even less enjoyable than my already low expectations. I will say staff was incredibly helpful despite the oddity of my issue. If you just need a place to lay your head for a brief trip - which is the exact reasoning my friend gave for booking this place - the Clarion Portland is the bare minimum for that but I dont think i would either book this hotel or accept hotel suggestions from the friend who suggested it ever again.
