This was our third stay at the hotel and, unfortunately, this stay we were not very comfortable. They were understandably busy as this is a historic hotel, and it seemed to be prom and college graduations going on, but that does not excuse being rushed, hit with our car door, and luggage being knocked over. In addition, after a long drive to arrive to our destination and attending events, we decided to try out their restaurant in the hotel just to relax and wind down from the busy day. The young lady that was assigned to our table behaved in a manner that made us feel like we were inconveniencing her and were not good enough to dine there. She began to loosen up after we decided to wait the 20ish minutes and order from the dinner menu as opposed to the bar menu. But unfortunately by that time I was not impressed. Our only positive experience was with the day shift, weekend valet gentleman and the young man running the Cafe bar. Both of them were very kind and friendly the entire weekend and in no way turned their nose up to anyone they were attending to. We love the history of the hotel and the beautiful garden and surrounding area, but when we visit next time, we will be looking at staying somewhere else that is more welcoming to all who come to the hotel.

This was my first stay at the St. Paul Hotel. The fitness center has a beautiful view and the room was cozy!

The Saint Paul Hotel is a classic hotel in the heart of Saint Paul's downtown. The rooms are small but comfortable and reasonably priced. The hotel is dated, but relatively clean. Location is fantastic.
Not a bad option.

Fantastic place to stay! Everything was very clean and well maintained. My only tiny disappointment was no microwave.

Great on most fronts. A hotel of this caliber should have "1st class toilet paper" and coffee available before 7am. And at over $5 per cup plus tip the coffee situation is ridiculous. All other was great, especially the Grill.

Ahmazzing!!! The only downside was the little bar was not open.

Nice location, safe. Everyone is really nice. A little pricey for a place just to sleep. Nothing special but priced like it is. $35 parking fee is inappropriate when paying over $150 per night for a room.

This hotel deserves a 5 star rating!! Elegance at its finest. I was there for a business trip and needed a lot of assistance getting trade show eqipment to the River Centre. Their shuttle driver Phil was SO helpful and knew just where to go. What could have been very stressful wasnt!! What a wonderful surprise!!!

Pillows were terrible…. Way to hard , was awake half the night , stiff neck and headache for hubby and me.

I love staying at the St. Paul, such a classy and elegant hotel. The staff is gracious and welcoming. Room was very comfortable and clean. Great water pressure in the shower

The heat was wonky. At one point with the heat off it was 80 in our room. They warned us when we checked in they were having problems and told us if it happened to crack the window but it wouldn't open. It was a minor inconvenience. Other than that everything was fabulous. We love it there and have stayed several times. Dinner was excellent, as usual.

Everything was wonderful. I think my only complaint is that I don't love that there is zero parking outside of valet, but I understand it's downtown and catering to clientele who use valet regularly.

The hotel was older. I understand it's a historic hotel, but the bathrooms and furniture are very outdated. No walk-in shower, old fixture in the tub, etc.
The doorman is very nice and helpful. The restaurant was good.
A few members of the room service staff could definitely use some additional training.
I requested extra towels and when the housekeeper cleaned my room, she took the extra towels out. When I asked for another set once I realized what she had done, the set that was brought up smelled like urine.
There were a couple of issues with charges that didn't get addressed, even after discussing it and the front desk staff assuring us they would take care of it. Now we have to call the hotel again to address it.

This is hard to review. I can't say the issues I had were directly the hotel's fault. We drove a van to the property and their parking garage wasn't tall enough to park our van. It turns out that other garages had the same issue (my van is 7' tall). So larger vehicles may have a problem with parking. In the summer, it's probably not a big deal, but in the winter, it was a bit of a pain to walk 3 blocks twice a day to pay for surface parking.
Property is close to Xcel Center, which was why we were in town.
Other than that, the hotel is fine, and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't drive a tall vehicle.

The service is wonderful, and the staff makes it such a fun experience! Our only complaint was that the room was quite cool and we couldn't warm our room up.

We have stayed here several times when in St Paul. Probably will look for another option in future

We have stayed here several times over the years. We stay when we go to the Ordway or to a game. We used to enjoy going to the grill and bar after an event but last couple times when event is over they are not serving anymore or last call. There are not many alternative options in the area.

What a special place the St. Paul is!!! Friendly, accommodating staff in a charming setting and great location. We also loved the service, food, and ambience of the hotel restaurant. The only thing to be aware of is that the fridge is small and there is no microwave in the room but the staff is accommodating to bring you one for a $12 feel so it wasn’t a big deal. We will definitely be staying there again!

Easy check-in; room was clean, the mattress cover (comforter) had stains and did not appeared freshly clean. Overall, great atmosphere, friendly bar staff and great location!

We loved staying at the hotel for Christmas. The staff was wonderful. I love how the bathroom is spotless and feels like a small spa with the special toiletries.
Thank you to the staff for making our stay comfortable and charming.

Winter time. Room was hot and you couldn’t cool it off. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Otherwise, staff was great. Location was convenient.

Hotel of this level should have a newspaper either outside the door or at least available in the lobby. Other amenities should include a shower cap, larger bars of soap, larger bottles of shampoo, conditioner, bottled water

The hotel is beautiful! Staff is superb-friendly, courteous, and appearance is classy and professional.
The room was very clean, luxurious and comfortable. The little added touches make you feel at home and welcomed.

This is the second time I’ve stayed at The St. Paul Hotel and I plan on continuing to stay here any time I’m in the cities. The hotel is within walking distance to the Xcel Center which is very convenient. The staff are all kind, polite, and helpful and the hotel feels very clean.

Great stay. Hotel was beautiful and staff was great!

Great hotel! Wonderful lobby, rooms.
Two constructive criticisms: valet parking operation needs some attention. Guests should be hurded and managed so people unloading are pulled to side and flow of traffic can continue. Also, we should not be told we have to wait 10 minutes to get a table for brunch when the dining room is more than half empty.
