location and the architecture
felt a bit like we were problem to them rather than a guest

The free breakfast and swimming pool. The dining area is a beautiful bamboo structure. The garden is very green, with amazing trees.
From check in to check out the staff weren't particularly friendly or helpful. The common areas around the swimming and outside seating areas were also in need of repairs and much more cleaning. The room we were put in was next to where the owner parked his car and the glass door meant we were woken up when they drove in and out. It was the most expensive place we stayed in Colombia while backpacking and sadly really didn't feel very friendly or special, despite the elevated price. The spaces outside could be so much nicer with a little bit more attention to detail. For example, Cafe area unused with no proper espresso machine and no cushions for plastic loungers next to swimming pool which made them really uncomfortable.

I think that an $80 a night hotel should be able to afford a hot water heater

Good location, the breakfast was nice. It looked like it might be nice if more people were there.
Staff weren’t helpful. Room wasn’t as good as photos show, it was the double room around the side and it was pretty small with a strange bathroom. The wifi didn’t reach the bedroom. No dinner options on the Sunday evening we arrived. They had no other guests so it was a bit of a ghost town. They also advertised payment on card but wouldn’t let me pay by card when we checked-in, luckily there is an ATM nearby. Overall, wouldn’t say it is worth the money paid - probably worth half…

Very friendly staff who helped us in several ways

Location right in the center of the village.
This is more like a family-owned big house with 7 rooms to spare...We went out to the desert and by the time we arrive (23:30), they took 30 minutes to open the house's doors (the "hotel" was closed and locked)... No answer on the phone also, we thought we had to spend the night outside or in another ACTUAL hotel...no answer during 30 minutes (we continued knocking as hard as we could the door). In the morning, the church began to ring its bells as loud as it can...it stopped our rest immediately. Really not a good place to stay: not seeing the actual room price reflected in the value you receive as a guest.

- well positioned to explore the tatacoa desert
- looked safe despite being in the very main square of villavieja
- complimentary toiletries were provided
- staff was helpful in providing a transfer to the neiva airport
- breakfast was OK
- the door was made of glass (although tinted)
- the room was right next to the street and at times cars were turned on in front of our door
- we seemed to have some difficulty talking with staff
- the price seems a bit off

The hotel is well located and staff were helpful in finding us a guide to show us around the desert.
If you are driving from Bogotá, getting to Villavieja can be a hassle. Google maps will tell you to go via Victoria but the road is not paved and it takes about 3 more hours even though you are not that far away. I would recommend driving to Neiva and the back or taking the ferry from Aipe

great location, nice room.
lots of mosquitoes, but the mosquito net protected us when sleeping.

Excellent location, lovely place and nice staff. The breakfast is great and the pool is very welcome after a trip to the desert.
Staff is friendly but mostly absent, once your food is on the table you’re on your own.
The manager is walking around talking to everyone, but doesn’t seem to care that he’s the only one not wearing a mask during a pandemic.
Payments are in cash only, that means you have to add to the rate the ATM charge and bad exchange rate.

The location was great. Nearby the desert of Tatacoa.
The amenities of the hotel were very cute and well decorated.
Maybe the most expensive hotel in town for a not so much good room.
The room (standard double room) was very humid and not really comfortable.
When I arrived in the room, I asked for the manager to change the mosquito net because there were a lot of big holes in it. They replaced it with another one but it still had holes…
The shower head was broken and there was no hot water. Lukewarm at most.
I have report those issues to the management but their response was not satisfactory : « I don’t find the room humid, if you want hot water I can give you access to another room to shower ».
The breakfast was really simple and limited : coffee (tinto), fresh fruits, scrambled eggs, bread cheese and biscuits.
They could have at least give me a discount after all those issues I have encountered but no.
With all those little things added, the stay is clearly way overpriced for the « quality » and the maintenance of the rooms.
80 euros for that, it’s seriously scandalous.
I have seen much better for less than half the price in Colombia.

Beautiful at night with all the lights. Staff is professional and friendly. Breakfast was decent
Dirty jacuzzi, pool, and entire hotel area. All the couches and chairs were filled with dirt and leaves. $135 is a lot for Colombian hotels especially a small town like Villavieja. They need to work on these asap.
Too many mosquitoes as well

Nice atmosphere, great location, friendly staff, comfortable bedroom.
Our room was near the bar, so It was noisy, and unfortunately the shower had hair from previous guests...
They could have really nice coffee for breakfast, unfortunately they havent notice how bad is the one they are serving...

Air conditioning, breakfast and location
Bed sheets old and too small for the bed. Bathroom was partially open to outside allowing insects inside. The bathroom door was transparent so you could be seen using the toilet. The external door to the room did not lock. The room and bathtoom were shabby. The outside spa pool in the room was unhygienic looking and the water was cold. The curtains sround the spa were brown and mouldy at the bottom. The blind cable was 10 feet above the ground therefore the blind couldn't be closed letting street light in all night. For $150 USD per night it was the worst value hotel we have probably ever stayed in and certainly a rip off based on Colombian prices. There is alao no wifi available in the room. The swimming pool was green and murky.

The decoration
They didnt have any payment methods. The town has got one atm only and was not working well.
The owner didn't help at all. Didn't pay any attention to the issue.
On top she was not very polite about it.
