Very comfortable hotel traditionally furnished centrally located in the Douro valley

Renovations were happening in some rooms causing noise

Great location, can be easily reached by train from Porto, great breakfast and dinner We could use the pool before and after check-in.

The location was excellent. It’s located by the river with easy access to boat cruises, short walks to amazing quintas and restaurants. The grounds of the hotel was beautifully maintained and a feast to the eyes. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.

We had high hopes of enjoying a stunning view but unfortunately our experience fell short. My expectations were set based on the hotel’s descriptions and the enticing photos. I had specifically chosen this hotel for its promised breathtaking view of the river and terraces. It was supposed to be the highlight of our stay. It was US$450 per night. However, upon entering our room, we were greeted with less than impressive sight - the view of the swimming pool. We asked to change and were given 2 choices that were even less desirable- one with view of the outdoor dining terrace and the other is a musky room with a large balcony and the view was only visible when we step out of the room to the terrace.

We had a room on the first floor with an outside terrace attached that looked out at the magnificent vineyards across the river. The room had a traditional but sophisticated feel to it. The grounds around the hotel were stunning and picturesque. The breakfast was top notch with offerings for all types of appetites!

The professionalism of the young staff was a little lacking, but that is likely due to lack of experience! Upon arrival, the girl who showed us to our room was just a bit "off." She provided vague verbalizations and orientation to various locations on the hotel grounds. When we arrived at the hallway to our room, she just gestured and said "here you are," and then left. We weren't quite sure what that meant, and had to walk to the end of the hall to locate our room ourselves. We were left unsure as to the location of the breakfast room on the first morning and walked all over the place looking for it. A map could have been helpful!!

The proximity to quintas, the old world luxury, and the attentive staff.

Expensive, but worth it for the location, experience, and amenities.

Beautiful old hotel that has been well maintained. Also the only nice hotel in Pinhao. The rooms are clean and comfy. The staff was attentive and helpful. Perfect location to the train and docks.
