Everything- this is one of the top places I have ever stayed. I will be returning to Hawaii in the near future and I will be staying here every time.
Wish the pool and hot tub stayed open past 6 pm

This beautiful property has such an old world elegance, the facade and lobby and location are gorgeous
The interior is quite dated

There was nothing to dislike

Gorgeous iconic hotel in the perfect location.
Being an older hotel I did find noise issues outside my room but everything else made up for it.

The Royal Hawaiian Resort is located right at Waikiki Beach and the view from the tower room was beautiful. The gardens are also very nice and the beach right in front of the hotel is clean and also beautiful. After staying there 13 years ago, I wanted to come back and relive the great memories I had of this place…
The hotel feels and looks old. Unfortunately this stay was a disappointment on many levels and just not worth the price. You pay the location and the view. These are the 5 star ratings I would give the hotel. Besides this, the room was not fully clean, we had to get rid of spider webs before unpacking. The mattress is in desperate need of replacement and there was an awful odor coming out of the toilet every time it was flushed. The room felt more like being in a motel than in a 5 star resort. For this kind of money, I expect more. The balcony from which we wanted to enjoy the view was full of bird poop and just dirty with old furniture.
Besides paying resort fees, you still have to pay for beach chairs and umbrellas (~$100 for one set for a day close to the water).
No one once asked us if we enjoyed our stay when checking-out. Didn’t make us feel very welcome or that the hotel really cares about their guests. I’ve read a lot of comments before booking the hotel and thought I want to experience it for myself. Now I can say that the reviews were mostly right when talking about the resort showing its age and that the money guests pay is not invested in improving the hotel.

I thought charging for umbrellas was a bit over the top given what u pay to stay there.

Everyone that worked there was absolutely amazing. I had wonderful interactions with all of the employees… top notch.
The fitness facility is way too small, especially the free weights area. It was always very crowded and sometimes no room to work out. The fitness center is important to me.

Beautiful landmark and location, the lobby was more or less maintained, the guest rooms were not. The sink had cracks in the finish, the furnishings are old and tired. The mattress was horrific. The boiler was unable to keep up with the demand for hot water at peak times. I have always loved this property, but JW Marriott would be ashamed that these rooms are part of the Luxury Collection in his namesake portfolio.
See above, Also there was a previous guests used hard candy and other detritus under the bedside table. I dropped medication on the floor and found it and other garbage there. That was nasty.

From the moment I stepped out of the taxi, I felt I was treated like a VIP customer. Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. Loved the wee extras given as a guest - coupon for pastries from the mini-cafe, 1 free refill for ice-tea from the same kiosk, great breakfast, very clean room with a wonderful view from the balcony, heated toilet seat! I could go on. Would definitely book again.
Can't think of anything. A bit expensive but still worth the price I paid so absolutely no complaints.

The historical feeling in the lobby, the gardens and the best location. This hotels is definitely a special place when staying in Waikiki.
The rooms are very tired and need renovation. The smell in the rooms is a bit off and the cleanliness is lacking. There were marks on the walls and ceilings that looked like they could be easily cleaned off. Also some stains on the furniture.
8.0
Legendary property, happening location, nice in-house shopping, beautiful holiday decor, and can't forget the Mai Tais. We enjoyed the live music by the sand. Helpful concierge, too.
The self-parking is a bit of a hassle (and steeply priced), and the resort itself is in sort of an awkward spot, wedged between the massive towers in Waikiki. The pool is nothing special at all and quite small. The price to sit in beach chairs is outrageous.

The location and the historical aspect of the hotel.
We had three false alarms. When we asked the front desk they wouldn’t explain why the false alarms kept happening and where evasive and borderline rude.

The property is in an amazing location and is iconic to Waikiki beach.
The hotel needs a refresh. The amenities were clean but dated.
The service was good but for the price, I expected a more tailored experience.

Traditional Hawaiian style close proximity to the beach and shopping.
Everything was great. No complaints

Location
It’s way over priced no longer is it a 4/5 star hotel. No room service. Bathrooms are tiny and desperately need upgrades if not a good scrub.

Excellent breakfast and facilities...
The overall cost, including parking, was beyond reasonable for a family.

The staff were amazing.
Ridiculous post-pandemic pricing. Outrageous! So much deferred maintenance.

Rather noisy late into the evening, which made sleep difficult for jet lagged visitors

Location was wonderful.
the fact that when I requested to extend my stay, the price went up over $300 per night. I needed to extend because I could not get to Maui which was my next destination. Felt like I was being gouged on price due to catastrophe in Maui.

Room service is terrible
Doesn't worth the cost at all

Everything in the hotel was fantastic. I enjoyed the smell and the beauty of trees around the hotel.
The hotel provides amazing services such as yoga, meditation, paddling... My partner and I took meditation outside of the hotel, which was fantastic.
The most enjoyable part for me was its pink pancake. We had it every morning and bought ready-made pancake flours for ourselves and our friend who gave us a Hawaii trip for our honeymoon with a beautiful heart.
The hotel is located in the center of the Waikiki area. I had great access to anywhere for food, shopping, and medical care.
When our friend tried to pay for our stay online, the Marriott policies made it impossible and the hotel booking staff was cold and unfriendly petty bureaucrats. The other places we stayed, like the Grand Hyatt in Kauai had no such problem.
