Great for adults and kids loved the stay

Save yourself a lot of disappointment, do not rent this property. The pictures and description of the property are totally inaccurate. The 3rd "bedroom" is a former storage room with no central A/C. All but one room have bunk beds. Main house only has 1 shower. Strong smell of mold and mildew through out the property.

We had a great weekend, the house location was great, the size of the house was perfect. But it was supposed to be a 3 bedroom and it ended up being a 2 bedroom bc the third room downstairs window unit was only blowing hot air and it's 90°+ here in Texas. Other than that we had a Jam Up Time!!!!!

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We truly enjoyed our time at Wine Down. We had several family members and friends that came and went and there was plenty of room. The kitchen was well stocked (though randomly organized). I would suggest bringing more towels as we were there for a week and had wash and share the ones available. At first we couldn't find the washer and dryer, but did eventually when we went on the back balcony and walked between the two rooms. (We called the rental agency and they told us they'd been sold :-)) I couldn't give the rental agency 5 stars because we had difficulty getting answers to questions, however, it was a busy weekend/week so that may have been the reason. Overall extremely happy and would rent again. One thing I would hope is that if a family wants to rent both Wine Down and Wine Time, that a discount could be offered. We wanted to rent the smaller unit next door as well, but the price was just too high. On the last day, another family stayed there and it was too close. If we didn't choose this location in the future, it would be for that reason.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second year staying here. We came last year when both wine time and wine down were one rental. This year they split it but we liked it so much we rented both units even if we did have to pay double the fees. Sadly, we were very disappointed with the maintenance this year. Both houses are infested with huge roaches, spiders and ants. The roaches were everywhere, they even crawled on my baby when one ran across the bed. Also, one of our toilets was broken. The tank took almost an hour to fill up with water. When I called the after hours for a service call, I got a voicemail, so I left a message, but nobody came or even returned my call. I think if they increase the fees, increase the maintenance along with it. We were eating at the dining table, and I almost fell out of a chair that’s being held together by a piece of rope. Too bad this place has gone down, we really enjoyed it last year.

Each has amazing balconies and views. Two boat docks, a kayak you can use, very nice furniture everywhere outside! You get the whole corner lot so you have plenty of room to fish. They have 2 underwater lights to use that we caught lots of fish in. Inside the houses, they are decorated very nicely. The beds were all super comfortable. I really can’t say enough good things about this place. We will be back next summer for sure!!

There are 2 houses that are connected and share a drive way, that would have been nice to know. Luckily we had good neighbors for the weekend, but I could see how it could go bad easily.

Parking limited but great rental house, all you need for a single family.

Guests: Me and my best friend (31 and 36) and our families. My parents (in their 50s) and sister (17), plus my bff's boyfriend and children (13 and 14). It was absolutely perfect!!! We enjoyed every minute. We had beautiful sunsets, and also a view of the full moon. I love the open concept living room / kitchen. We prefer to stay on the bayside because it is cheaper, and also you can kayak or swim in the canal. The 3rd bedroom is downstairs, almost like a separate apartment. Also, the bathroom upstairs is jack and jill, with two toilet rooms and one shared shower, which was perfect. We loved the downstairs area with the outdoor kitchen and sitting areas. We also loved the kayaks and the floating foam platform -- so much fun! Next time, we will rent the property next door as well (it's a studio) and bring more people. A few minor issues: low water pressure, wood deck is old and has splinters, the stove was hard to cook on because it didn't heat up well (but def still useable), and they did not provide very many bath towels. The upstairs deck is also very sunny during the day and a bit of shade would have been nice. Also 11 am checkout is a bit early for us... All in all, it was such a fabulous trip. We would come back for sure. Thank you!

The second room downstairs is not livable and they have bunk beds in it. I would never let me kids stay in a room completely detached from main house. The second room had a dehumidifier in it to try and remove the mildew and mold smell. Walking in it takes your breath away and not in a good way. Staying in that room would probably put you in the hospital. All the outlets in the main house are worn out and won't even hold a plug in them. Most of them shoot sparks out when you attempt to plug into them. The house looks nothing like the pictures and hasn't been keep up at all. On our second day a storm blew over a glass table on the deck and shattered everywhere. Yes they had a glass table with a 6 ft umbrella in the middle of it on a deck. I'm not from the area but even I know they get very high winds and should never have glass on a deck. The management company did come clean it up kinda after a few hours. We still had to clean glass up the entire trip. I know I'm forgetting something we just had the worst vacation ever in this house and hope this saves someone from making the same mistake we did. When you get 1 vacation a year and waste 2k on a house like this it's hard to let go. Please beware

This place really is amazing. My husband and I planned on sleeping in the room on the bottom because my 14 year old daughter felt safer upstairs not knowing anything about the area. We were shocked to see a bunkbed and a twin bed in the bottom room and the 2 top rooms had king beds. The bottom of the bunkbed was a full size so my husband and I did stay in the bottom room . It was amazing to wake up and walk out the door and be able to fish or just jump into the water. The view was amazing. We met the owners the second day and were pleasantly surprised they were so nice and accommodating. They even took us out on their boat during out stay. There are kayaks and paddle boards and a huge floating mat and bikes that go along with the house. This place had everything. We brought our own kayaks and my husband spent 3 days fishing on his kayak and cought so many fish. He likes to catch and release. There is an elevator which was amazing for my inlaws. It was a huge bonus. The outside kitchen was great for cold drinks by the canal. We rented a golf cart from Rick's for the week. That is definitely a must. We drove it everywhere. We got to see all the beautiful homes in the community and drive it to the beach. If you get a golf cart I suggest to get an electric one because the gas one was so loud. This honestly was the best and most relaxing vacation I have ever had. We will definitely be back.

We had an amazing time! House has everything you need to cook with plenty of out door water toys including 2 tandem kayaks and a paddle board for kids 130lbs and under! Would definitely rent again!

Upon arrival, which was early because we were told no one was there and the property was clean the owner was there making "repairs". The garbage disposal was not working. There was tape over the button for it and a bucket underneath to catch the water. The smell was disgusting. The cabinets had left over food on them and the dishes were all dirty. Once we read the check out list we understood why the dishes were dirty. They ask you to have everything clean and put away in the cabinets before check out. We have stayed in many rentals and we always load the dish washer and then leave it so when cleaning gets there they put away the clean dishes. The downstairs that is a bunk room was mildewed and we had to dump the humidifier 3 time's and still did not feel comfortable with a child staying down there. The kicker was that we were paying for a 3 bedroom home and the studio next door had 12-15 people staying there at any time. We were asked to move 1 of our 2 cars that we had on the property so they could fit a 6th one behind ours. When we called the property management company and told them they said that they could send a cleaning crew over that Saturday but we had already cleaned and we had a toddler who was about to take a nap. I had called the afternoon before they closed at 4:50pm and no one picked up so I then called the emergency number and left a message. No one called me back and I had to call again the next morning. I still have not herd back from anyone after I spoke with them on Saturday. The only time someone called was Sunday to see where the keys where and they were dropping them off. When I asked if someone was going to call me back about the issues we had she said that Joel was going to be in and would call me when he got there and was going to do a walk through. Needless to say we would never stay at this property again and would not use the management company again. Also, the outlets barely held in a plug and they had paper over some that said do not use. With a child this is of course concerning. Everything needed some major TLC. Also, very ironic that this place was called Wine Down when there was not 1 wine glass in the house. I have given the management company 2 days since check out to reach back out to us and still have not heard anything back. They had mentioned waiving the cleaning fee but since yesterday afternoon I have not heard back.

There is a great breeze underneath the house. This is where we spent most of our time. The house is in need of some updating. The bathrooms have been renovated but the shower was small. The kitchen needs a deep clean and updating. There is no oven even though they listed they had one. Overall the house wasn’t so bad we had to leave but we wouldn’t rent it again.

Loved the house. Confused about the loft and ended up paying more because of the confusion. House had a Ceiling water leak but it didn’t bother us. Very cool spot!

The house was awesome! We had a great time sitting on the patio, playing in the water. Not too far from the strand. The bugs come at night, but i think that would be hard to get rid of. There were some inside. We did lack toilet paper, garbage bags, these essentials would have been appreciated since we assumed they would be there. Overall a

The Wine Down is a very nice and relaxing home. The outdoor decks and sitting area made it such that we could enjoy the day watching the water and birds. The house provided lots of amenities for our family to enjoy beach toys, bikes and kayaks. The down stairs deck area provided plenty of seating, bar space and grills to make for wonderful family gathering. Note regarding bedrooms: 2 King size beds are upstairs and one room with bunk bed and single bed is downstairs off the patio. It was not a problem for our group of older kids/teens but could be misleading if you are thinking of using the bunk bed room for smaller children.

The breaker kept tripping and the microwave wouldn’t work. Water bugs were bad as well. 1 out of the five bikes worked. All of the floaties had holes in them. The patio furniture was not very nice. Toilet in one of the bathrooms did not work well at all.

This place is so relaxing, perfect view, the entire stay was wonderful. Would definitely stay here again.

I was disappointed at first when I realized the downstairs bedroom isn’t connected to the upstairs. It’s full of bunk beds for kids but I didn’t feel safe putting them down there so we parents slept down there. But it was comfortable. The upstairs is very nice. No oven; just a toaster oven. Charming covered deck below with outdoor sink, refrigerator and coffee maker. Overall great stay.
