My son and I had a wonderful stay at the end of October! Despite the rainy days, we found plenty of board games to keep us busy and then explored the area once the weather improved. This property was the absolute cleanest rental we have ever seen! We found everything we needed, and it made our stay so relaxing. Such a cute house, and my son enjoyed checking on the goats next door. The beach just down the road as well as Newport State Park were so convenient and beautiful places to visit. Kick Ash Coffee was a fun find in Ellison Bay, too.
We experienced a fluke power outage, and the owner responded to my message SO quickly to help us get it resolved! They are fantastic!

We really enjoyed our stay! It was a great location and very clean! The house was extremely organized which was helpful finding our way around it. We had the best time on our first visit to Door County!

We had a great stay at this house. It’s definitely away from all the action of door co, so if you’re looking for a quiet, off the beaten path vacay, this house is for you.
Initially, it felt like there were a lot of rules. There are notes around the house about various policies/rules. At first, it felt a bite stifling. But after chatting with Val and Dan, I can see that it is all because they care a lot about their guests having a great stay. And it ended up being really nice having all the light switches labeled!
We loved the fire pit and my kids loved the space to run. My 8 year old literally ran back and forth between the house and the neighbors goats multiple times a day!

Spacious clean and well decorated. Enjoyed Europe beach down the street! Great front porch and fire pit. Close to many things but still off the beaten path to get away from it all and really relax!

Previous reviews all spot on. Very clean and well organized. Beds were great. Very thoughtfully set up for families. This is the farthest North we ever stayed, but it was nice to be out of the traffic of other areas. No need to go to Newport for meteor gazing- yard was perfect!

This listing exceeded expectations: very clean, organized, and comfortable. Great location with a beach 2 miles down the road. Loved the porch and the bedrooms were spacious. My family and I would definitely stay here again!

Very nice! The upstairs bedroom on the right has no a/c which made it very uncomfortable for sleeping the fans were not enough to keep it cool

Very impressed with the house. Everything was nicely labeled and exactly like described. There was a storm when we were there and the owner kept up updated of power outage. Overall, great experience.

My family enjoyed our stay in this home. It was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. I think the owner shows a lot of attention to the small details, which demonstrates how much they care about the property. I was very happy that there was a full-size crib onsite and the location was quiet.

We spent a long weeks reconnecting with old friends. The house was as described except that the setting was even more beautiful. It’s close to town but in a gorgeous rural area.

Everything was well-labeled and easy to find. The bedrooms were spacious and ideal for each couple. Had the weather been better, the grounds were perfect for socializing. We will definitely rent this house again.
* One suggestion from my dad who turned 80, adding a grab handle in the main bathroom allowing the main floor bathroom to be more elderly/handicapped capable.

This was a wonderful place to stay! We were traveling with a 1 year old, and especially enjoyed the "crib nook" room for him and the inclusion of a high chair.
The house was a good size for our group (5 adults, 2 kids) and we loved how much space there was to be outside, the fire pit & seating area especially.
Very close to a Dark Sky Park, a beach, & the Washington Island ferry, all of which we took advantage of. We would love to stay here again some time!

We had the best time in Door County over labor day weekend. The house was immaculate and the owners thought of literally everything, down to telling us what they DIDN'T supply (shampoo, totally fine) and labeling where everything was for easy quick comfort. The house is really well laid out and we had plenty of room for our family of 4 and my mother in law. Val was responsive and communicative and thought of every detail. The location was great for our family on an otherwise busy weekend in Door County, very quiet but still close to stuff that we were well occupied. My only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer! We'll be back!

Family fun
We had a wonderful time staying at this home in Ellison Bay. It was immaculate and so well organized. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, there were toys for our children to play with, the beds and linens were comfortable, and the outdoor space was so inviting. There’s a big field for kids to run around and play in (there was even a beautiful rainbow arching over the red barn next door!), and yard games available, and a bonfire pit. The Ellison bay beach and playground is nearby and Newport Beach park too. Also close to restaurants like Mink River Basin with arcade games for kids. Wickman House is also close for finer dining. We gave this stay 5 stars and highly recommend it for multigenerational fam vacations!

The house was as advertised. Instructions on how to use all appliances and labels where daily use items were stored. Extra service provided by owner reaching out to us when storm was forecasted. Made sure we knew where flashlights were kept.

The best of Door County
We really enjoyed staying in this lovely, clean home. It is just a short bike ride to the town beach park, Newport State Park, Hotz Trail, Mink River Estuary and other natural areas that we love. The yard is fantastic with a great fire pit and plenty of room for frisbee and badminton, as well as star gazing. Gills Rock & Ellison Bay are close and it’s just a short trip to Sister Bay if you’re in the mood for shopping. We appreciated all of the thoughtful touches. Thank you for making the foundation for a great vacation!!

This was our second stay at Country Comfort, and we look forward to many more. The house is immaculate, thoughtfully outfitted and organized, and well-labeled for guest convenience. The location is beautiful and the fire pit and outdoor eating areas are wonderful features. The information provided in advance is very helpful and Val has always been quickly responsive when we've had questions. Perfection!

Wonderfully restored, spotless house in Ellison Bay. 5-10 minute drive to hiking, Sister Bay. Walkable to Uncle Tom's Candy shop and adjacent to a hobby farm.

Wow!!! This place is fantastic ! Very clean. Decor is awesome! (My friends and I were taking photos to replicate some of the great ideas put into the decor) We loved that we were not in the center of the crowded towns in Door County, instead, being a short drive away, enjoying the countryside. This place is top knotch!
