Loved the remoteness of this property and the river in the back yard! Slept while listening to the rushing water. Beautiful drive around the mountain and plenty of hiking nearby. Property was clean and cozy. Great hosts!

Kenneth and Margaret are wonderful. Our first evening She called to check and see if we needed anything (of course the cabin had everything we could ever need). Everything was very clean and comfortable. We loved having coffee in the morning on the deck overlooking the rushing stream. All was peaceful and beautiful. We will definitely be renting here again.

We have friends stay there for extra space when visiting our cabin, and they always love it. From the area attractions, to the wonderful deck, views of the river, and wonderful furnishings it always pleases. We are so lucky to have it nearby.

We can't express enough how much we enjoyed our stay at hawksview. Our hosts, Kenneth and Margaret are always so wonderful and the places that we've rented from them are always impeccably clean and well kept. Location is great, and we always enjoy going down to the stream. This was our first visit in cooler weather so we enjoyed the fireplace immensely. We are looking forward to a return visit very soon.

Hawk's Nest Cabin was very clean, well furnished and the location is near lots to do. We hiked to the falls at St. Mary's Wilderness and through the Blue Ridge Tunnel, and shopped at the Farmers'Market and Apple Stands/Stores. Loved hearing the stream flowing by and the breeze blowing through the trees as I sat on the side deck drinking coffee.

The cabin was beautifully furnished with everything one needs for a getaway.
But the most fabulous feature was the location along the Tye River. The view and relaxing sound of the rolling river was so peaceful we didn't want to leave.
We will rent this home away from home again.

This is our favorite cabin! Large deck overlooking Tye River is serene and restful. Great place to just getaway from it all and recharge your mind and soul!!

Just had another great trip to the cabins. I always feel welcome and now that I’ve visited a few times I’m getting familiar with where to eat and shop for groceries before I get there and during my stay. The stream outback was a great place to take a dip in the hot summer heat, although it feels chilly at first just jump right in. Try not to scare to many of the fish away.

Such an awesome cabin in the woods directly overlooking the river. Plenty of room for me and my husband inside the house. And, plenty of places to sit outside as well. We already miss the sound of the rushing water of the river. We will definitely be returning!

Nothing hidden it was exactly as described and illustrated in the photographs. Of the cabins within sight, it was located in the most perfect location of all, perched high above the river below. The name of the cabin, "Hawks Nest" is perfect in that is a bird's eye view of everything below. Management made a call the first evening there to make sure everything was in order and left us to our own devices the remainder of our stay, which is exactly what we were in need of. Thank you to the management!

Beautiful Mountain Cabin
The perfect, cozy, little cabin for a getaway from the craziness of life. I highly recommend staying here and soaking in the mountain air, Tye River, and surrounding trails.

If you are looking for relaxation surrounded by beautiful scenery overlooking a flowing creek, this impeccably clean and well maintained cabin is the perfect place. The cabin was well equipped with everything anyone would need. There are so many extras that make this cabin memorable. The deck off the living area is wonderful for your morning coffee or evening beverage of choice. The large outside deck has a bar height table, a smaller table and a picnic table to meet any need. My husband and I had several meals outside overlooking the River. The outside grill and fire pit are well maintained. The lights shining over the creek are magnificent. The owners are very personable and treat you like family coming to visit!
There are lots of things to do nearby. Hiking to waterfalls are plentiful in the area. Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline are close by and will not disappoint. Make sure to go on a clear day because the clouds will cover the views. There are lakes and streams abundant in the area. If you are wanting to trout fish.
If fishing and hiking aren't for you, there are numerous breweries, hard cider, and wineries within a reasonable drive. Note, make sure to check hours of operation. If you are an early riser, you might need to delay the start of this trail. We happened upon a great winery. The owner spent much personal time telling us about his farm and the different types of wine including those made with honey rather than sugar. He made many suggestions on what types to taste after getting to know our personal preferences. We have several bottles of wine to bring home to continue our memories of our Virginia vacation.
Whether you want to go out and explore and just kick back and relax, this is the place you want to be. Quiet except for the sound of the water, birds and an occasional wood pecker. We saw deer, wild turkey, ground hogs, chipmunks, squirrels. But no bears thank goodness!

A Hidden Gem
This property was absolutely perfect, I went into this experience looking for a getaway spot for my girlfriend and I, and she is very particular with what she likes, and she was BLOWN AWAY. We didn’t want to leave. The cabin was so comfortable and inviting and had everything we needed! The check in process was the easiest I’ve ever experienced with rental properties, and the owners were so nice and even called just to see if we were having a good time. Lastly, the river…. What I thought was a nice stream behind the cabin turned out to be a beautiful, flowing river with so much beauty and life that we were engulfed and spent over 12 hours just sitting on a rock and admiring its beauty. If you are looking for a spectacular getaway to the mountains with a breathtaking river, all around a cozy cabin, this is the place for you. Before we even left we were planning our return visit, and I guarantee once you visit, you will do the same :)

We needed to unplug and get away from Richmond. Vacationing at The Hawk View was just what we needed. The new cabin was comfy, decor calming. and well equipped. The view of trees all around, the sound of North Fork River rushing by and no agenda other than hiking Crabtree Falls was a blessed relief! Our hosts were easy to communicate with. We want to return next year or perhaps this fall🙂!
