The warm welcome, friendly but attentive and efficient staff, lovely friendly atmosphere in the bar area and restaurant . It is dog friendly and an evening spent there was a thoroughly enjoyable one. Amazingly, breakfast was as social and enjoyable as the previous evening. We intend to return and strongly recommend if you like traditional English pub hospitality and good food.

If I tried really hard to find a fault, it would be one fire door that is awkward to negotiate when carrying a suitcase but I suspect that cannot be remedied because of fire regulations .

Food was good but the tea was musty with a strange smell which we reported to the staff who agreed and said she would change the tea bags.

I ordered the steak for my evening meal which was tough to cut and very chewy. No steak knife was provided. Also two dogs were left to roam freely around the dining room sniffing at the tables. Overall we were disappointed and did not feel that our stay was good value for money!
