The staff were incredible. From first arriving, the two members of staff on reception were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Straight away they booked me in for dinner, advised me of a good time, and even booked me in for breakfast the following morning, before the breakfast restaurant opened (I needed to leave early). My room was perfect. It was warm, cosy, and clean. The decor was very homely. I didn't look around too much of the hotel, but the library area looked like a lovely place to sit and enjoy a book and a drink. When I left my room for dinner, the lovely lady on reception walked with me into the restaurant and introduced me to the staff. I chose the steak pie, and it was so tasty. It could not have been any better. Similarly, the breakfast the next morning was really tasty too, and I feel the staff really went above and beyond, serving me breakfast at 7:15 when the restaurant usually opens at 8am. I could not have asked for a better, more welcoming experience. This has to be my favourite hotel experience, and I will definitely be returning.

This hotel was for a one night stay en route to an equestrian event. I could not have been more impressed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The General Manager works very hard to keep everything in excellent order. We had a superb evening meal (fantastic pies and sticky toffee pudding!) and breakfast was also extremely good. Will definitely stay again if it is available next time I am in the Carlisle area.
