Enough room for two, cozy and quiet. We had everything we needed for staying in. Far enough away from activity but close enough for walking. An ideal spot.

It doesn’t get much more ideal than this. Perfectly nestled in the town of Carmel by the sea. The cottage was cozy, quaint and relaxing. Tons of great restaurants within walking distance with beautiful and quaint architecture.
Barry the host was extremely gracious and accommodating. He went above and beyond by providing an awesome charcuterie board upon arrival with Brie cheese, crackers, fig jam, and apples with white wine to boot.
Check out Bruno’s Deli within walking distance from the cottage Thursday-sat they have an awesome deal on prime rib with veggies and potatoes au gratin.

This is the most magical place I’ve ever stayed. When you walk through the front gate you are immediately surrounded by beautiful landscaping and the winding path leads you to the door of the guest cottage. Walking into the space feels like a warm hug. The owner’s attention to detail makes staying here easy since any possible need has been anticipated. The location cannot be beat. You are walking distance to town and all the wonderful shops, to the ocean and the miles of beautiful beaches, and to some wonderful trails for a serene walk in the woods. I am so happy I found this beautiful place and I look forward to returning again and again!

The cottage is a wonderfully special getaway!! The host is a professional who goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable and effortless. His attention to detail is amazing- so many thoughtful touches, including a welcoming bottle of wine and cheese and crackers!
Barry is readily available for any questions about your stay; he also has great recommendations for best places and restaurants to visit.
The cottage is charming and enchanting, just as is the city of Carmel by the Sea. The bed is very comfortable with upscale bedding, and the shower is large with great water pressure. There is a very nice washer and dryer below, as well as iron and ironing board. Cleanliness is A+.
We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. Do not hesitate to book your stay, you will love it!!

We have been coming to Carmel for years but this was the first time renting a place and I’m now sold! Barry is an excellent host and takes great pride in providing everything you may need and a few extras you aren’t expecting which really made our stay special! I can now fully understand what everyone meant in their reviews. This cottage is so clean and airy and was the perfect Carmel getaway for us! (Oh and I really miss the great water pressure in the shower!) Excellent location and an easy walk to restaurants, shopping and the beach. We will definitely be renting this cottage again!

Barry, we've stayed in many cottages in Carmel over the past 30 years. Your Starfish guest house is by far our favorite. Everything that we needed for an extended stay had been thought of and provided by you. Lots of nice and generous touches. The location is perfect - near downtown and an easy walk - but a couple of blocks away made our stay quiet and peaceful. We highly recommend your cottage and look forward to staying here again on our future trips to Carmel. Thanks so much!

Dream Cottage was indeed a dream!!! We loved every minute of our three week stay. It is comfortable, convenient and charming. We played a lot of golf, enjoyed walking the beach and most of all, Carmel. The cottage is walking distance to all the restaurants and always such a nice spot to return to. Barry is the BEST!!! He was always available to answer any question we might have had. Could not have asked for more. Lovely spot. Hope to return.

This place is charming and has everything you need, including a full kitchen and washer dryer and good TV. Perfect for a couple looking for a romantic spot to enjoy Carmel from. Can walk to everything in town and to the beaches. There is ample on street free parking. Barry was very attentive and communicative. We would definitely rent this cottage again.

WOW...we went to Carmel to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The cottage was amazing. The cottage had everything you would need. The laundry room was very handy. It looks better in person and we thought the pictures were beautiful. The description of the cottage was spot on. Barry was in constant communication. Upon arrival he had a lovely card written out to us and wine and a lovely cheese, fruit and cheese plate waiting for us. The grounds are fantastic. Staying at this cottage made our anniversary so special, cozy and romantic. If there was a 6th star I'd give it a 10!!! We will be back for sure! We won't wait 10 years this time. Highly recommend Barry's cottage.

From the moment we booked this adorable cottage, Barry has been the best host we have ever had. That's saying allot as we do not stay at resorts when we vacation, we look for cozy quiet getaways and this place has it all. Barry worked with me to place a surprise in the cottage prior to our arrival for our first anniversary, This surprise brought tears to my wife's eyes. You just don't find that in any host. In addition, Barry's many personal surprises and special touches made this place so memorable. Walking distance to all of Carmel. Top of our VRBO list... Highly recommended!!

We just spent the most amazing week recharging, relaxing and reconnecting in this cute cottage! It was exactly what we needed! The cottage was in a great location, a short stroll from the downtown Carmel shops and restaurants. It was well appointed and meticulously cleaned and maintained. The bed was comfortable and the linens luxurious. Our host, Barry, is second to none! He was always in contact with us and went above and beyond to make our stay special. I really can’t thank Barry enough for the week we had in the cottage! It was the perfect way to spend our 25th wedding anniversary. I will definitely book the cottage again when I return to Carmel.

The cottage is a lovely small space at the back of the property, very quiet and private yet a short walk to downtown Carmel. Barry was the most considerate host I have worked with over the years, ensured my stay was pleasant and anything that I needed was provided. He took the time to understand what would be best for me and my stay, and followed through. And to top it all off, there were wonderful little extras that I didn't consider. I would highly recommend Barry's cottage in Carmel.

From the moment I booked the moment I checked out, Barry was the most gracious host! Truly, he went above and beyond, which goes a long way with me.
The cottage was exactly what was pictured. It is so darling and perfect. Everything was incredibly clean and well-maintained. The bed is incredibly comfy, and I slept so well!
I did have a bit of trouble finding it on day one, but I remembered berry said there was a yoga studio, called a Yoga Shala right down the street. So I put that in the GPS, and eventually found the cottage. This is not Barry’s fault, I am completely directionally challenged!
I did not want to leave because this cottage truly feels like home after spending two weeks here. The beach is about nine blocks away. About a short 5 to 7 minute walk downhill.
If you were questioning, should I rent this adorable cottage or not, the answer is RENT IT! You won’t regret it!!!

The Cottage was a magical place to stay. The host anticipated everything and had wonderful surprises during our stay. The cottage was extremely cozy and comfortable. The location was perfect to explore the area. Cleanliness was exceptional. The gardens were adorable. Definitely highly recommend and hope to return.

My wife and I just spent 9 days at the cottage and grew to appreciate how well it is equipped. The cottage is bright and looks out on a well landscaped garden. The kitchen is well stocked with a full size fridge and stove. The place is right in the heart of Carmel and Barry is the perfect host, always available to help but never obtrusive.

We could not be happier with our time at this beautiful cottage. The location is superb, just a short walk to everything you want to be near or see - restaurants, shopping, bicycle rentals, bakery, and much more is a short stroll away. The cottage is furnished exceptionally and every detail is considered for guests.
Barry is the best host we have encountered - kind and attentive with excellent communication.

There are not enough good words in the English language to describe this wonderful, and most beautiful of hideaways in the heart of Carmel.
From the moment you arrive you are embraced by the love and warmth that Barry has designed and poured into this charming home… it is perfectly conceived with everything you could need and more. There are so many extra little touches (I won’t spoil the surprises), that make you feel cherished and appreciated as guests and make your stay that extra special. Barry wants your stay to be amazing, and you can feel that from the moment you arrive. I have never felt like this anywhere I have stayed before.
The location of the house is just a wow factor! A few minutes walk into the heart of Carmel and to all the fabulous restaurants and shops and down to my favourite - the wonderful bay.
We have stayed in many places in Carmel, but this is our favourite without a doubt. We will absolutely return to stay here, it was more than we had hoped for and Barry was the best host we have ever stayed with through our years of travel.

Cute cottage with everything you need. Location is amazing especially during car week. Just a couple blocks from events, shops and food. Quiet setting to come back to, with the days full of crowds and events the serene setting of the cottage and quiet neighborhood were perfect for relaxing. Barry is also great!

The owner of this cottage works hard to have lots of special touches. The walkability to town and lots of restaurants along the way was great! Not far from the beach and the scenic drive around the beaches was a big plus. Everything is so close-Pt Lobos, Monterey, 17-mile drive!!

Charming Carmel Cottage
There is nothing that Barry the owner of this property hasn't thought about for his guests. First, his communication from the moment we booked until we checked out was more than expected. It's a cozy size cottage but has every amenity you could ever need. We stayed for 10 days and it was the perfect location for walking to everything Carmel by the Sea has to offer.
The cottage is extremely clean and the furnishing are very up to date, no granny furnishings here. We would return to Barry's Carmel retreat without thinking about staying anywhere else.
Adding to our experience was a delightful laundry room. I greatly appreciate a large clean light filled laundry right underneath our cottage. Barry should have a title above super host. He exceeds the expectations of a host. Barry's hospitality sets the bar. An added plus were the EV charger 1/2 block away.
In addition we met Barry in person and he brought us another special treat. He pampered us and we so appreciate all the attention we were given. Every text was answered within moments. Thank you Barry for making our Carmel stay so very special.

The entire visit was lovely but it was mostly because of the location and the decor of the cottage. The cottage was smaller than we both expected but the attention to every little detail made it seem much larger. The twinkle lights made it seem as if it was just the two of us and we time traveled back 50 years.

Lovely and Quiet
Barry has created a lovely little refuge right in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea. We have stayed in Carmel many times at many places, and this is decidedly now our favorite.
The cottage is small and intimate without being cramped. It's nicely designed and well maintained, containing everything a couple will need for a comfortable stay. It is very quiet, but only a few minutes walk from the center of town. Barry clearly has a decorator's eye, and thoughtful touches abound. If you're looking for a relaxing and romantic getaway for two in Carmel, look no further!

We enjoyed a week long stay in the cottage. Very cozy and comfortable, lovely decor with a lot of thought. Well kitted out kitchen nook with much detail given to kitchen supplies, cookware etc. Thoughtful touches, greeting and extras from host Barry. Much appreciation for his accommodating our date change due to a death in our family.
Highly recommend for a memorable stay.
