We had a wonderful time staying in Del Mar. The cottage was just as advertised. It had everything we needed and more. Out kids loved the swing and the tree house and we just loved being so close to the beach. Gary was easy to contact and quick to respond. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come.back again.

We thoroughly enjoyed this entire experience. We thought we had an issue and was responded to immediately and there was no problem. The location is great. The amenities are there. We had two 16-year-olds and two 12-year-olds who enjoyed the bunk beds and Grandparents enjoyed our room. there was so much to do and enjoy. Highly recommend this for a wonderful vacation.

Gary’s house was everything we needed for our beach vacation. When we visit Del Mar again it will be our first choice.

We just got back from a week stay at this adorable, enchanting storybook cottage. Our 13 yr Old twin granddaughters loved the double bunk room, tree house swings and the boogie boards they got to use every day ! Gary really does a magnificent job in providing everything imaginable for the perfect beach vacation. We had several meals at the cottage, so the dining room and deck got a lot of use. I loved the kitchen with it's Viking gas range, sub-zero fridge and dishwasher. The washer/dryer in basement was one of the most important things for me. Loved them! As others have mentioned, the ocean view from the master bedroom and deck is stunning! My husband enjoyed relaxing on the deck and watching our dog run around the yard, ears flying in the breeze. Throwing balls for him to chase or a frisbee to catch. We spent a great deal of time a Sea Grove Park with our dog. (only a few minutes from the house). He loved lying under the wagon at the beach, that we used to haul all the beach gear : ) The cottage is so cozy and welcoming, yet also felt very spacious for us. If I could give this lovely sweet home 10 stars I would. I hope we get to return one day !

You will not be disappointed with this property. Time stood still during our stay and is within a short walking distance to most things in Del Mar! Gary was very accommodating and look forward to vacationing at this house again in the near future!

The house is in a fabulous location, with a short walk to many great restaurants and a gorgeous beach. The yard was also charming with swings, a tree house, and a deck with chairs and an umbrella. The only downside was that those with dustmite allergies had a tough time in the house, particularly the back bedroom. Putting dustmite covers on all the mattresses and pillows would make a big difference.

Ideal location. Easy walk to restaurants, beach and the race track. Home has been well maintained and is well equipped. Owner communications were prompt and thorough. We hope to be back in the coming years.

In the mist of Del Mar, this property is close to the park, the beach, to restaurants, shopping and more. The house was built in 1930 and is charming. There’s also a treehouse and back for the kids.

Ideal location, wonderful place overall. However, perhaps not the best home to rent with very young kids (4 or under).

We stayed a week at this storybook cottage and really enjoyed it. It was super comfortable and our 2 dogs loved the large, grassy yard. The house is ideally located, 1 block to the ocean, ½ block to restaurants, shops and bars, ½ block in the other direction to a great breakfast spot. The owner was very communicative, and it was great to have so many beach toys on hand... after a day at the beach it was treat to clean up in the outdoor shower before hitting town for dinner. We loved it!

We stayed here for a week at the beach and had a wonderful time. We were four adults and two children (ages 1 and 4) who regularly travel together, so the singular bathroom was not that challenging for us, and the outdoor shower (with hot water, no primal scream therapy necessary) was a big help! The property was an easy walk to the beach, even with little kids, as well as close to restaurants and shops. So fun. Despite the house’s nearly 100 years of age, we could tell that it’s been well cared for throughout the years, and it is perfectly up to date with all of the working parts and comforts you expect in a modern day house (even the ice maker in the vintage wall fridge worked perfectly!). There weren’t even any squeaky floorboards (which I would have especially noticed at night, with two sleeping children in the house). Great communication with Gary about our arrival. We loved the preserved charm of the place, and had a fantastic time.

This property was just as described, really close to the town and beach. It was clean and tidy, cozy and colorful. We enjoyed every day we spent here and would definitely come back in the future. The yard was our favorite part and our cat really enjoyed admiring the lizards and humming birds!It was everything we wanted and more. Thank you!!

Perfect location with large private yard next to beach and restaurants. Never had to use the car.

Charming in every way, in upscale neighborhood, with a short walk to the best beach in California. We felt so fortunate that Gary allowed us to stay at his special place. Although within a short walk to many places to eat, I love to cook. The kitchen was all that I could have asked for, and eating on the deck or in the dining room was special. It was also a perfect place for Larry, our flat-coated retriever, with a fenced yard in a very dog friendly community.

this is a special place. its on a street with homes that have been updated and mcmansioned, but this house stays true to its roots. a lot of people walk by and look at this little cottage as if it stepped right out of hansel and gretel. it is quaint and functional inside. there is an access gate to the alley so can you can walk right to the beach. there is a nice patio where we had breakfast and the kids liked playing in the tree house. the interior has been renovated and feels very comfortable. one room with queen size bed, one with two bunk beds. one block either way up and youre on the strip, near restaurants, on the beach or having a drink. cant beat the location. the garage is stocked with beach supplies, bikes, a wagon to haul your kids and their toys to the beach which is less than a few blocks of easy and nice views walking. be aware there is no AC since it is close to the beach, and when the windows are open there is a nice breeze, but only two windows in the whole house have screens so at night either keep the lights off or bugs may get in. we ended up using the candles provided, which seemed to relax the kids and keep the night calm. if youre concerned about leaving windows open at night with no screens then you can think about it but if it doesnt bother you at all then this place is perfect.

My family and I had a wonderful time! The house/cottage is not too small, not too large (perfect for a family of three to six) and is conveniently located. You are in such close proximity to the beach, restaurants, boutiques that you can leave your car in the driveway and walk to the local spots. The house had everything we needed to enjoy our 5-night stay. Great kitchen, washer/dryer, a deck with ocean views...just to name a few. Excellent communication with the owner and would highly recommend this house to anyone planning to visit Del Mar.

I rented this beautiful home for my son's birthday. Absolutely perfect! Cozy rooms, great kitchen, big backyard...and a tree house! Fully equipped with all the necessities including beach toys and an awesome wagon. The deck is wonderful for relaxing after a long day. Perfectly located it is walking distance to the beach as well as restaurants and shops. It is the quintessential beach cottage. The owner was wonderful to work with. I loved our stay!

This house and location is just incredible. We traveled with our 4 boys to tour Legoland and Seaworld and the location for anything San Diego County is perfect. Our boys absolutely loved the tree house. It is quite possibly the coolest tree house ever All the shops and restaurants are within walking distance and so is the beach. It was great to be able to use the wagon and boogie boards to haul everything to the beach. We will definitely look to stay here again.

We have rented this property 5 or 6 times. It really meets our needs. Fabulous location. Just a couple of blocks from the Beach and one block from the main street and restaurants. Great property fenched in and kept impecably. Private driveway helps in that location. Easy in and easy out. Great family memories.

This house is such a GEM! My daughter and I loved our time there and can't wait to go back. We love Del Mar and this cottage is one/two blocks from great shopping and restaurants. Much better than staying at the hotel. We only made breakfast but the kitchen is equipped for gourmet cooking. We also enjoyed having the fireplace on several cool evenings. When you wake up in the master bedroom, you can see the ocean or have coffee on the deck. The housekeeping is excellent and the house is very well maintained. GO!!! You will love it!!
