Wilderness Beach House Backpackers Lodge

The hostel has an excellent location next to the beach and the view from the property is fantastic. There's a modern kitchen space for guests which is well stocked with crockery etc. The showers had good pressure and were nicw and hot.

There were only 2 toilets and 2 showers (in the female bathroom) to be shared by a large number of people. The bathroom was covered in people's clothing and toiletries which I suspect had been left by previous guests and never thrown away. The tent had some old furniture left outside (a damaged book case and weights)

Staff were great! Location sublime. Could watch the dolphins and whales whilst I drank my morning coffee!!

Really nice staff. Bar area with pool table was great for socialising at a night time. Beautiful view of the beach. Bed was comfy and it was clean

I didn’t like how the hostel door didn’t lock and it was kept open all day. Also the sliding door to the outside area seems to be broke so this doesn’t lock either. Made me a bit weary as a solo female

Stunning location and right at the beach.

Having stayed here before, it was disappointing to see how much the property has declined. The entrance was untidy, with building materials, litter and cigarette butts creating a very poor first impression. Other than the receptionist, the staff were indifferent and unwelcoming — no greeting, no offer to assist with luggage, and some appeared more interested in sitting with coffee and cake than helping guests. Unfortunately, both the service and upkeep fell far below what we experienced on previous visits. We had no hot water in the bathroom.
