Really nice clean house, well suited for families with children. Assume view off of the deck.

Our stay at this beach house was absolutely incredible. We felt right at home as soon as we opened up the front door. Plenty of space in the kitchen, washer and dryer, plenty of beds, 2 bathrooms, Great space on the deck and just a couple steps to the beach. I would highly recommend this property to anybody looking in the area.

Overall, a great house and a lovely stay. The location is great. Being beachfront was so nice, the views were gorgeous and it was so easy to get to and from the beach each day. In past years of visiting the Outer Banks, we have stayed near the beach, but a short walk away from a beach access (ex. across the street). Especially with young kids, the convenience of being right on the beach makes a huge difference! And at night we could have a glass of wine on the deck after the kids went to bed and listen to the waves (and the first few nights we had a great view of the moon over the water), which was perfect. The house was very clean and updated and the kitchen was well equipped. The only complaint is that the Wi-Fi is not very good. My husband had to do some work while on the trip and had to use a mobile hotspot from his phone at times to get things to load (and if the kids were watching their tablets, they had to mostly just watch things that were pre-downloaded). The West-facing (street-facing) bedrooms also are rather warm, especially at night once the doors are closed. Even though the AC is set to 72 (the lowest it could go) and the fans in the room were on, our baby monitor showed the actual temp in those rooms as 76-78. But the kids seemed ok with it, so it wasn't a big deal. Overall, though, a great stay!

Wonderful stay. Our time in this home was pure perfection! The location is amazing! Beach front in kitty hawk. House is well kept and has all the comfort you need. The view of the ocean from your bed as you wake is breathtaking. Communication with the host was amazing! If I had to give “even better if” feedback, then I will be nit-picky and say that the internet (but the beach!) is on the slower side and hot sand on the path (wear your flips on the walk down/up or you will have hot feet). We will be back!

This was our first trip to the OBX and it did not disappoint! The house provided easy access to the beach to come and go as we pleased and the beach was not crowded at this location. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises from the deck every morning. The house offered all amenities needed for two families with young children and is centrally located for easy access to other parts of OBX. Terry, the host, was most accommodating and very responsive, ensuring a smooth stay. We would definitely come back for another stay!

The positive is, our kids had a blast, the house is wonderful, and is in a great location consistent with previous reviews. The host, however, was dishonest and stole from us as we paid everything in advance, including the pet fee. The host was very clear via VRBO message that she would refund the fee if we were not planning to bring the dog. We messaged her prior to the trip that the dog was staying home. When we asked for the pet fee back after the trip, she stated “I am not refunding anything; I could have ruined your wedding.” She even hung up on the VRBO representative who had all the documentation when they attempted to contact her about the refund. She also has tried to place a claim on our deposit stating that we were “over occupying the home”, which we were not as we only had the limit of 10 people staying there. Our family had rented beach houses all within walking distance for a family gathering for a small ceremony on the beach. One of the other homes even being from the same host, which the host was well aware of and acknowledged via text. Our ceremony was on the beach like many others who have reviewed this home, and included 15 other family members from two neighboring beach homes (a total of 25 – which I accidentally ordered extra chairs) and the host stated that the occupancy extended to people on the beach; therefore we had violated our agreement and should not receive our deposit or pet fee back. Overall we were highly respectful of the home. We did bring all of our own plastic/paper dishware and plastic ware, aluminum pans and such. We deep cleaned the home daily, fixed her dryer which had sand from previous renters because it was unusable, and kindly left additional paper towels, toilet papers and items to be used for future tenants. We found the host to be both unprofessional and invasive as she decided to attend the wedding on the dune by the home (we have pictures) and would holler passive aggressive comments at my family if they decided to come over to say hi and/or bye, in particular one was simply coming by to say good-bye as they were leaving for the airport. There are outdoor cameras on the property that would show there was never a pet on the property during our stay there.

There was plenty of room, and supplies, great location, and great weather. The only thing that we felt could be improved upon was the Wi-Fi signal .

Me and my family have generally stayed in more remote areas of the OBX for past vacations (Salvo/Rodanthe, or even Corolla 4wd access areas) but wanted to be IN TOWN and near a variety of activities, restaurants, etc for this trip since it was my toddler son’s first OBX vacation. This house hit the mark on location- it sacrifices nothing, anything you can dream of is around the corner. The beach is even super close, NO clamoring through long paths in the dunes to get to the beach. The water is right there and a cinch to access, my son comfortably walked himself to and fro and rinsed his own feet at the bottom of the deck before coming in. Lots of toys and beach gear were provided plus the kitchen was completely stocked. You can even have a crab boil (we did!) The appliances all worked very well too. The open kitchen/dining/living area layout cannot be beat, and EVERYTHING is on one level inside the home. Such a family friendly and welcoming place to be! If there were to be any drawbacks, the living room furniture was uncomfortable (cushions slide around , etc) , the Wifi is tepid/barely works depending on the time of day and there’s only one exterior door. But like we said, “not complaining, just saying!” I wouldn’t be able to work remotely on the provided Wifi while vacationing here, but thankfully I didn’t have any need to. Just go to the beach as much as possible. Sit on the high top deck chairs and watch the dolphins while sipping tea. Y’all enjoy, we plan to come back asap!

We stayed here with our children and another family with children and had a fantastic time! This is a great house for two families (ample seating for dining, lots of beds for kids) and is RIGHT ON THE BEACH! Need I say more? Book a stay here to unwind!

This was our 2nd time staying at the Crab house, it is a nice place for kids. You can walk right down to the beach and also sit on the deck and watch the ocean!

We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect--right on the beach so only a few steps to the beach. It worked perfectly for our family as we wanted to explore many locations from the south to the north of OBX. Restaurants, activities and grocery store all nearby as well. Super clean and a well-appointed kitchen.

The house is great - we loved sitting on the deck looking at and listening to the ocean. You can’t be any closer to the beach! Terry was very quick to respond before and during our stay, an excellent host! If we go back to the Outer Banks, we would definitely stay here again. Our dog loved it too!

My family and I stayed at CRABS cottage in Kitty Hawk. We reviewed the photos of the house online and when we got there it was just as the pictures looked. It was clean and Right on the beach. One of the best vacations we had. Well worth the 12 hour drive! :) Thank you for sharing your beautiful beachside home with us Terry!

House was perfect for our needs. Right on the beach so the walk wasn’t bad for kids or adults. House had plenty of space for the 6 of us plus a dog. Definitely recommend if you are looking to be right on the beach!!

Where do I start… The pictures absolutely do not do this place justice. The picture of the four chairs looking out over the water was where I intended to sit this vacation, and the views from that spot were marvelous, both morning and evening. The home was beautiful, well maintained and clean, and perfect for a week at the beach. The open floor plan was perfect to congregate, and the four bedrooms were well appointed. Overall, a great place for our family to reset after a crazy year! Thank you for a great week Terry!!

The Crab House was perfect for our family. The house was clean, newly updated, kitchen was well equipped(went deep sea fishing, and crabbing & shrimping, meals were awesome), and the open floor plan allowed us to all be together. The owner was very accommodating . Loved that it was right on the beach, my grandchildren had a blast. Beach was not crowded which was a plus with what's happening now. From the back deck we saw spectacular sunrises, dolphin swimming, and the sounds and sights of the ocean and beach. We would definitely stay at Crab House again, hopefully next summer Covid-19 will be behind us. I can't wait to return.

We had a great week at Crabs (grandparents, uncle, parents with toddler in tow). The house was very clean, well laid out with open concept.....kitchen has tons of counter space and everything you could need in the cabinets. We loved sitting on the dolphin watching chairs with coffee in the morning (we put up a canopy to provide some shade during the hottest hours of the day) and just looking right out at the ocean, and sitting out on the picnic tables to have lunch and breakfast. Terry is very responsive and clearly takes great pride in this property.
