Kitchen need some new pans

Bob is a very friendly dude and the location is amazing. At first I did not like the place I was given and I'll explain below what happened. The second room I was given however was impeccable and I have nothing negative to say about it, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, I was given a towel and I was basically alone in the room. All the amenities you need, sockets by the bed to charge my devices, good warm shower and easy communication with Bob who quickly solved my issue.

The title is misleading as there's no real free laundry service. There is a washing machine, but you need to have your own soap, and travelers don't usually carry that or don't even know where to buy it. I've stayed in other accommodations that mentioned free laundry and basically someone would just tell me to drop my laundry and it would return washed, that's what I expected. Also, I had to change rooms because in the room where I was supposed to stay there was only one other guest that smelled very bad and slept the whole day, I had to ask to be moved and Bob helped me immediately without thinking twice. These are the reasons why I'm rating 8/10.

The hostel was clean, tidy and well maintained. The rooms had A/C, WiFi worked well and the kitchen facilities is very good. The showers/bathrooms and laundry are clean and easy to use. The owner and staff are helpful and always available on the phone if they are not there. The location is perfect, it's based in the old town and accessing the tourist places was within walking distance. Public transport is close by and you can easily visit the new parts/residential areas.

The breakfast was very good, and the location was convenient for exploring the city.

On the second day, I was moved to a different room for what seemed like business reasons — even though there are separate male and female rooms, they use them according to demand, which negatively affected guest comfort. The first room was much colder than the second because the heating was broken. I also had problems with the laundry service, as I was told it would be ready at a specific time, but it wasn’t. The bathroom was always dirty, and there was no toilet paper, which I had to request. Breakfast can only be consumed at 8:00 AM, and the owner knocks on the door to wake you up — not ideal if you like to sleep in. They should offer a flexible breakfast time slot like most places. Due to all these issues, I couldn’t enjoy the city as much as I would have liked. The owner could improve their attentiveness and guest care. Thank you for your reply. I accepted the room change only because you insisted via my personal phone, and I had to return to the hostel mid-day, which disrupted my plans and enjoyment of the city. Having separate male and female rooms means such changes should be avoided, or done only when rooms are empty — asking for permission doesn’t make it acceptable. You told me the heater was broken, so I could not adjust the temperature, which is contradictory to your claim. Offering free laundry for the inconvenience is appreciated, but does not replace proper service. Being woken up for breakfast is not standard practice, and limiting it to one hour is inconvenient; flexible hours are normal. The bathroom was not clean that day — you admitted having a personal appointment and unable to maintain it. These issues are not about luxury, but about basic hostel standards. Instead of defending each point, I encourage self-reflection and improvements. With better attention to guest care, your hostel could truly provide a positive experience.
