A warm welcome, very good breakfasts and a nice beer garden. My room was a delight with well-stocked hospitality tray and the shower-room was clean, bright and had a lovely range of toiletries. Broughton is a special place with a lovely park for walking my dog.

Lovely pub/hotel, our room was spotless and cosy with kettle, coffee/tea/biscuits in the room, we ate in the restaurant for evening meal (fish and chips) and also had breakfast the food was excellent and great value for money, the staff were friendly and we were very happy with the choice of place to stay.

Booked initially as just a base camp as myself and my wife visited areas of the lakes and clambered up Scafell pike however it was much more than we hoped for, lovely well serviced room with comfortable clean firm bed excellent breakfast and a great selection of evening meals from the pubs A la carte menu, which in turn were very tasty!

Second visit to the Old Kings Head this month and as before we found it to be welcoming, with a smart bathroom and newly decorated comfortable bedroom. The full English breakfast was ample, well cooked and nicely served, the evening meal menu was of good "pub" grub again ample, well cooked . Good selection of hand pulled craft beers and a roaring log/coal fire The hosts and staff were excellent and helpfull A very welcoming hostelry!!!!

Maybe another chair in the bedroom if I was being picky- everything else was fine
