Pros: great location, spacious, very clean, super prompt maintenance, lots of NOLA character. Off street parking was great. Coffeemaker broke and a new one was provided immediately, as was a fan for one warmer bedroom.
Cons: water pressure in several bathrooms was nonexistent…showers were not usable and we had to wash hair leaning over tub. A couple of us lived in the lower garden district and we did not find this typical of old houses. The AC in all bedrooms reset to 83 F in the middle of the night…we learned that this couldn’t be changed so every night we woke up so hot and had to adjust thermostat at least once.
Overall, great place—it’d be perfect if the showers were working and the AC stayed on all night!

Loved staying in this house and area. Made me feel like part of New Orleans. It was in walking distance of a coffee shop, great breakfast and brunch place called Surreys, trolley was a few blocks away. Also ate dinner at Lulus and it was wonderful. All bedrooms were spacious and had great beds. Just a heads up about front bedroom, if you like dark quiet places to sleep this room isn’t for you. We didn’t think about it but it was still great.

This house was amazing. Its location provided ease to access all the cities amenities and had great local restaurants and things to do with easy walking distance. I would highly recommend this house. The owner was nice and the property manager Paul was very friendly and accommodating.

The description and the photos are spot on. We had some confusion with the door keys and the check out time, but the owner was able to clear up the check-out time for us the morning of. It's a great place to stay for a weekend in New Orleans. We'd stay here again anytime.

Great location, accurately described. Courtyard was a great place to hang out.
Water pressure was terrible, toilets were iffy, showers were mostly claw-foot tubs with an icky curtain that you touched constantly. Also the front and back doors were laughably bad and hard to open/close completely.
That said, the house was good for our group and I probably would return if I needed somewhere for a group to stay... we'd just know to take turns and only use the two modern showers.

Love the history of the place. It is very charming and had no problems accommodating our group (2 couples and 2 singles) as we were in town for a conference. Location is close to many restaurants and within walking distance of the river, French Quarter etc. We did not have a car and never used a taxi. It is a 100 plus year old house and if you are expecting somethig shiny and new this is not the place for you. The beds are comfortable and check in and out was a breeze.

We had a NOLA wedding just down the street in Magazine. This was perfect for that - and convenient to all of our other weekend activities. Super nice owner.

This was a bad experience from the moment we got to the house. We arrive at 5:15 pm. There were (full) trash bags, cleaning supplies and sheets all over the kitchen table and floor, the washer was running, and the house was 88° downstairs; 94° upstairs. When contacting the phone numbers provided (the owner) did respond immediately. There was "miscommunication " with the owner and housekeeping. Housekeeping said she was told no one would be checking in until Thursday (we checked in on Sunday) Housekeeping came back to the house and had everything "almost " complete (we told her we would finish the laundry) at 9 p.m. We went to bed with the house still at 82°. It was not stated anywhere that the owner controls the a/c, but she does. When we finally got the house cooled below 80°, the next morning all a/c panels were changed to 83°. This happened every day (5 days) She did call someone out to "fix" the a/c, but the a/c man told us, " There is nothing wrong with this a/c unit or panel. It is controlled by wifi and it is set accordingly; by the owner. I guess she just called me out here to make you feel better." We spent the rest of our first night trying to get the internet and cable to work. We followed the directions on our email. After all of that failed, we called Cox, as the directions stated. After being on hold,on the phone in general, for 25+ mins, we were told the wifi username and password were not what was stated on our email. Apparently, it had been changed long ago, just not updated on our instructions. Going to bed that night, I stepped on a nail sticking out of the floor at the entrance of the master bedroom. The nail punctured the heel of my foot, blood everywhere. I made the owner aware. She thanked me; however, around the nail there was a lining of where a piece of tape once was. This made me believe the nail was already brought to someone's attention, but nothing was done about it.After refunding me for "part" of the first day, I received my detailed bill today and she charged me $375 for an additional guest. Everything in this listing states 10 guest are allowed. I had 10. Period. I never once said how many guest were coming because that was never asked; however, THREE different places in this listing states TEN guest. It also states for "additional guest " there is a fee of $25. This does not add up to $375. The owner also entered the house when she knew were gone. This was more of a nightmare than a vacation.

House was advertised for 5 bedrooms and I was only able to use 3 due to A/C not working, manager sent a guy who was obviously drunk to get me a CD portable A/C unit but he just left it in the kitchen after trying to open bedroom
Window. They only sent one unit when it was 2 bedrooms without A/C

We loved the location of this house. We aged from 22-85! We rented a van so the parking was perfect. It was a beautiful walking area! It was close to drive in to The French Quarter and Bourbon Street. Everyone had their own bed and bath!

My family of five had the pleasure of staying for a week at Carrie's Magazine location in the heart of the Lower Garden District and within easy walking distance of the entire Garden District. We had a blast! This location and property let us sink into the feel of New Orleans and the Garden District the moment we stepped across the threshold. From the backyard, easy, secure, off-street parking, the balcony looking over Magazine street, being a part of a block of row houses, high ceilings, and easy access to great restaurants and grocery stores, if you're looking for a New Orleans experience without the craziness/noise of the French Quarter this is your place. The location is not corporate in anyway, but has everything you would need in terms of the kitchen, bedrooms, appliances, etc. It has its quirks (two bedrooms accessible only through outside breezeways because its NOLA, some showers in bathtubs), but they are easy to figure out and we honestly enjoy being in a place that feels like a home and not a cookie cutter hotel.
Communication with Carrie and her team was exceptional. When we return to NOLA we would absolutely stay here again!

Great stay, despite the intrusion of Barry
The house was perfect for the group! It's a beautiful old home. The set up took a hot second to get used to with 2 of the bedrooms being accessible from the outside, but it was perfect. The onsite parking ended up being great because there was one guest who did have a vehicle. There are some cool restaurants and shops within walking distance, a grocer that isn't very far at all, Delmonico's is a short walk away, the convention center, if your stay means going there, is a very short drive. I would definitely stay in the house again if a future visit requires the space.
Oh, and the turtle was present!

Magazine Street Home
Great location. Very easy to get to the freeway. 15 minute drive to the Quarter. House was large enough to accomodate my party of 11. Carrie's check in and check out process were oth smooth and easy.
Couple of negatives, but they would be easy fixes. Floor in downstairs bathroom around tub was dirty. My son cleaned it up before walking in the bathroom. Two chairs in the kitchen were broken, one collapsed on my husband when he sat down and he isn't a big guy, the other the back was broken which we found when it scratched my niece. Lastly the upstairs outside bedroom TV didn't work.
That said, the house was awesome. The gardens were a great way to sit and enjoy the evening. My grandkids loved feeding the turtles. It was nice having the laundry onsite.
All-in-all a great trip. Thanks Carrie!

Magazine Street
Absolutely loved the upper front bedroom with street balcony- wonderful for sitting out in the evening (or anytime for that matter).
The back patio was marvelous with jasmine and gardenia - and the two cats and turtles.
We had such a good time in NOLA overall but this house let us pretend we were natives just a bit. Very comfortable!

Great location with lots of room!
Each room and bathroom is oversized so there’s plenty of room! The location was great for us, within walking distance to the convention center and plenty of great coffee, food & beer places! The house itself is old and so if you’re a stickler for perfection or super cleanliness, this probably isn’t for you. If it you appreciate character, history and location then it’s a win! Overall, great stay and I would stay here again! Thank you!

Nice house, great location
Really enjoyed this vrbo. The house is huge and really loves the # of bathrooms. The 2 rooms that aren’t connected to the main house are perfect if people want to go to bed earlier. The area is really cute and you can walk to restaurants and bars easily!

Lovely home, great area!
We had some challenges due to some physical disabilities, but overall, this was a great home with plenty of bathrooms for 12 people! We enjoyed the large table in the kitchen. There is no walk-in shower, however, the bathrooms were HUGE! It is within walking distance to the WWII Museum and some great cafes. I would stay again!

Great stay in a beautiful home in inviting Garden District
We had a lovely stay in this slightly tired but still beautiful Garden District home. The courtyard and master bedroom terrace invited us to enjoy the sunshine with plenty of places to sit and share time together. There were a few places that could use some work like the dead koi floating with the turtles in the pond, an exposed cord in a kitchen outlet, knotted bedding in the living room, and some musty smells in the two outside bedrooms. Nonetheless, the spacious and well stocked kitchen made making a Thanksgiving (!!) Dinner fairly easy for our big group of 13 and we were even able to sit down for a shared feast at the kitchen tables put together. An oven that struggled to start was attended to very quickly by the property manager- averting any pre-meal stress. We would definitely recommend this lovely giant because of its character and charm and it was a great overall stay for our combined families at Thanksgiving.

Overall great stay, good location
Pros
Loved this area. I was hesitant to stay anywhere but French Quarter, where I stayed before but I’m so glad I did. It felt safe, less crowded and great shops and restaurants within walking distance.
House is large and two rooms are completely separate from the rest allowing for privacy. The living room has a door to close it off if used as a bedroom.
The house was well stocked with linens, soap, kitchen items.
Check out was easy.
The patio was great and it was fun taking care of the cat and turtles.
Balcony on front bedroom was great for people watching, even saw a wedding parade.
Communication with owner was quick, easy and very attentive.
Cons
It is not convenient for elderly guests. There was no walk in shower even though it was included in the pics. Plus the stairs are high and narrow. We had to determine the most comfortable room for my 81 year old mom but it did require her to walk outside and up stairs.
There is only 2 keys. One more key would make it much easier so the two outside rooms had one as well as main house guests.
Overall skip staying in the French Quarter and choose the beautiful garden district.
