Heir Island House

When we booked, we’d initially overlooked the fact that the spot is on an island accessible only by ferry, and we were on the verge of cancelling straight away because we were worried the ferry timetable would make it difficult for us to visit other places. But as it was our final stop on a round trip, we decided to leave things as they were. And looking back, we’re so glad we made that decision, because Heir Island House was the only place on our entire trip that felt like a home away from home – with a heart and soul. Even our dog felt at home here straight away. We stayed for three nights and didn’t even feel the urge to leave the island. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and for an extra charge you could also get a midday snack and/or a superb dinner. We also really enjoyed dining and chatting with other guests at the large table. The hosts, Claudia and Craig, were always approachable, in good spirits and welcoming, and even took care of transporting our luggage to and from the pier (we actually could have been given a lift too, but preferred to walk). We’d definitely stay at Heir Island House again.

It is on a beautiful island, that you get to via a ferry from the mainland. Claudia and Craig are the loveliest people, the food was great, and it was very peaceful

We got a lovely warm welcome from our hosts Claudia and Craig. The island is very pretty, beaches are beautiful and deserted! Our stay was comfortable and dinner and pizza were excellent.
