Smelt damp needed a deep clean

Driving to the cottage is a little tricky if you’re not familiar and comfortable with tight windy roads! I drive Skoda Octavia which just about got through the roads without damage, bit of the neighbour has visitors it’s impossible to park. The quaintness of the front is lovely, and the resident neighbour is polite. The cottage is built very close to the hill side so it restricts the light at the back of the cottage, making it feel and smell damp. There is no garden, only two very small terraces that are accessed via steep and narrow stair cases that have the odd loose tile. Carrying items up or down while holding on was interesting, so definitely not for the faint hearted, dogs or young children. Theres access via the back bedroom, but the bushes to the side were overgrown to make use of it. The kitchen is compact and has everything for home cooking (take your own frying pan). We didn’t use the washer as we didn’t want wet clothes in the house which was already struggling with damp, and there’s no where to hang it outside. However, it will hugely benefit from a deep clean; doors, windows, rugs, and but of an update. The bathroom is modern and easy to keep clean. The shower head sits at 6ft, so at 5’8 it was just about doable without me crouching or bending. Overall, it’s ok, but a bit pricey for the lack of quality and useable outdoor space. This is a managed cottage via Booking.com, who are useless. I would contact the owners direct if there’s any issues. Careful when you do, they’re aware of the damp issues but haven’t sorted them and unlikely to. They told us the main bedroom had been decorated when it clearly had not. Internet connection is poor.
