Hotel Cardinal of Florence - recommended for ages 25 to 55

This was a great stay for us in Florence. The location was amazing - we were a very short walk from the Duomo and had several bars and restaurants around us. Yes there are stairs but that is to be expected in Italy and honestly was nothing compared to the stairs we experienced in Cinque Terre. The front desk clerk also ran down and helped us carry our bags to the top which was so nice of him and made the stairs less difficult. The room was very standard "hotel room" with basic furnishings, the bathroom is all redone which was nice. The bathroom lighting could be improved and there was no mirror outside of the bathroom which made it difficult for me to do my makeup if my husband was showering or using the bathroom as well. We loved the coffee machine and little cookies available throughout the day. The rooftop terrace is also so wonderful and such a great perk! I would recommend staying here if location is the most important for you - it wasn't necessarily the nicest hotel room ever but it was comfortable, safe, felt clean, recently renovated, and had a great location, which made it great for us. All the front desk folks that we encountered throughout our stay were so welcoming and nice.

The sun terrace was in need of a bit of care and attention, nothing like the beautiful pictures of it.

The location is fantastic, making it easy to go back to the hotel during the hottest part of the day. Our room was spacious, spotless, and wonderfully cool upon arrival. The large bathroom was a nice plus. The front desk staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and very helpful throughout our stay.

As other reviewers noted, climbing the three flights of stairs to reach the hotel can be exhausting, especially after a long day of walking or when arriving with heavy luggage. While we knew what to expect beforehand and managed fine, it is worth keeping in mind. The only other minor downside was that the bathtub lacked a shower curtain, which made it difficult to keep the bathroom floor dry while showering.

The location was very near the duomo, and the Italian guy at the reception he was helpful and informative . There is a small terrace area with an amazing view to the duomo, perfect for a little colder evening, but difficult very narrow stairs to it.

1- wasn't aware that the hotel rooms are on the 3rd floor of a very old building without any elevators 2- the air-conditioning unit made a water accident that costed us to change the room and lose a sweater due to very big stain. 3- the toilet despite the renovation, it stinks of sewage smell. 4- the flush in the new room works 50% or less. 5- thin walls that makes you everything especially when there were noisy guests late in the evening and in the middle of the night
