Lands of Loyal hotel

The main attraction is the hotel's lavish Victorian Gothic interiors, a true must-see, but it also scores well for its staff, pleasant gardens, and food. Dining here isn't cheap, but the kitchen is competent and one doesn't experience the disappointment offered in many Highland hotels. It was nice to enjoy a good soak in a bath, an increasingly rare facility, and the 12:00 checkout time allowed a leisurely enjoyment of breakfast and the grounds.

The bedroom being warmer than I would have liked is the only caution I could mention.

I think the food is too expensive for what it is and if you want to make use of the bar you should bring a fair bit of patience as there is a regular wait for either someone to be there (might have also been that it was Sunday/mondau)

Location in Alyth is a good base for exploring the southern part of the Cairngorms and the castles in the surrounding area. Stunning great hall on arrival with open fire and comfortable seating. Rooms are all decorated in a fitting style. Beds are luxuriously comfortable. Bathrooms have most facilities you'd need. The dining room was managed very well for breakfast and dinner, and the food was of a high quality and well presented. Staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Plenty of safe parking around the house, and an overflow area for busy periods.

Some of the more practical fittings could do with a slight update - the power socket in my room was very old and a little loose. Would have been nice to have a bath in every room, but that's personal preference.
