An old style room, which we personally loved. Well maintained and very clean and it gives you a nice and comfy vibe to enjoy your stay in Zermatt. Also, on the main road. No way to miss it

Everything was great about it

This hotel is a lovely, older, yet very well maintained, property in a good “middle” location in Zermatt - our issue was with the location of our room & the staff’s attitude when questioned about that. The housekeeping and majority of the hotel staff were all very nice.

As mentioned, the property was great, but there was significant miscommunication about the room “description” & the services available during our stay - we booked (& paid significantly extra for!) a “Matterhorn view” room which had NO view of the mountain, due to a large pine tree (& though no fault of the hotel; construction/crane/etc in front of our ) which blocked the view of the mountain from, what appeared to be only our room! We addressed the “view” issue immediately upon check-in & we’re told in a very stern & direct way that there was nothing that could be done about it & that the room we were assigned was in fact a Matterhorn view room (which it absolutely was not!) This, coupled with our smoking neighbors(with almost no barrier between balconies), made our balcony virtually unusable during our stay. Also, when we checked in, we both heard the desk clerk’s explanation of hotel amenities & NEITHER ONE OF US heard that breakfast was included in our stay so, for our 4 day stay, did not know that! Again, when we discovered our missed breakfasts, the (same) desk clerk argued that he “told us” when we checked in! (Also, we clearly understand the cultural differences between the U.S. & Switzerland as we both worked for the same Swiss company for over a decade so these issues were not a language barrier, etc!) Luckily, our Matterhorn experience & the rest of our Zermatt stay was great so, we just chalked this one up as a bad circumstance.
