Grainger House Hotel

A lovely hotel with a beautiful classic and historic atmosphere. The room was clean, comfortable and well-maintained and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Free car parking was a great bonus. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back again.

I had to book this hotel at short notice and realised that as Newcastle FC were at home hotel accommodation may not be available and be very expensive. The Grainger House Hotel is a lovely old building with loads of character externally and free parking, which is unusual for a hotel close to the city centre. I was pleased to find a reasonably priced hotel, and accepted based upon the reviews that it may be dated/need some interior repairs/investment. The beds, duvet, pillows and sheets were very clean, but as expected the room was basic and the bathroom was 10 feet down the corridor. It was suitable for my needs as I needed to stay a night and I suggest the owners replace the shower head holder as it was broken and retune the TV,s as most chanels do not work.

Clean the windows externally, ensure the window in room 206 can be opened, fix the flaking plaster above the window in room 206. Put a sink in room 206 (easy fix, as the bathroom is next door), retune the TV's in all rooms but 206 as its only got a few chanels. Do not take a deposit or ID Card to issue the room access card, its unprofessional and guests may forget to collect the ID they have handed in before leaving. The price I paid reflected the facilities but the owners with some investment could increase prices and ensure reviews improved

Nice building, very quiet room, public transport at the door and friendly staff.

Basic and small bedroom but comfortable. The remote control for the tv wasn't working, but we didn't mind because we were out most of time.
