Haka House Rotorua

Location was great, and facilities were clean and abundant. Although I ate out each night, and didn’t actually venture into the shared kitchen/lounge area.

The car park around the back was tight and limited - large utes shut the whole space off, and when I left early on my last day, I had to reverse out the entrance as a car had just made the corner impossible to actually make. They charge $15 a day for parking, but the Rotorua council will charge you $12 a day for a permit, they have a weekly rate and it’s free between 3pm and 9am weekdays and all day on the weekends.

Clean, good amenities, very worth the money

The beds were comfy and the rooms were modern. It was quiet enough for a hostel.

The man on the desk directed us to the stairs, we asked him where the lift was as we had big bags we couldn’t carry, he explained there were only stairs, we let the man know we could not carry our bags up please can we have a ground floor room. He said this wasn’t possible. We walked past a cleaned room on the ground floor which was still set up and cleaned when we left so he could’ve moved us in here…. We also explained we were happy to change to a different room from the twin room if it meant being on the ground. Not once did this member of staff offer to help us take our bags up stairs.
