What a wonderful find to stay at the Riad Melhoun & Spa. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. A thanks to Achmed, Abdul and Mohammed. Their hospitality, friendliness and attention to our needs for our short stay was top notch.
The Riad itself is a beautiful, peaceful and full of authentic Moroccan character, we were told the architecture was based on the Madrasa Ben Yousef a site that is well worth a visit during your stay. The Riad provided a tranquil sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the Medina.
Each morning an exquisite Morrocan breakfast was served to us on the rooftop terrace, a terrific start to the day.
The location is ideal, set within the Medina itself gives one immediate access to explore the many sights that it has to offer.
We took the opportunity to take an excursion to Ait Benhaddou, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would say that this is possibly not for everyone as it is a long drive through the High Atlas mountains and once reaching the Kasbah there are a number of uneven climbs. But if you are mobile and enjoy the mountains, as well as visiting the location of many Hollywood movies, then this is not to be missed.
This was our first visit to Morocco and were keen to have an authentic Moroccan experience. We were not disappointed.
