My host was very friendly but I don't think how I spoke (I'm from Yorkshire but I don't have a thick accent!) was clearly understood. I tried to simplify what I was saying but I'm not sure if that helped. The breakfast was varied though there isn't a menu. The room was spacious and warm with plenty of towels. The property is on a main road but was quiet. Helensburgh has a lot of shops and amenities which are a short 10-15min walk away.
The room is advertised as a room with a private bathroom, but the bathroom is across a public hallway. On the ground floor the bathroom was next to the lounge area, and you had to cross the property's entrance hallway to use it. Although inconvenient to use in the night it didn't matter much to me as I appeared to be the only guest at the property, although I imagine this might be a concern if you have children.

Host was very welcoming and helpful. Large, comfortable bedroom. Residents' sitting room with interesting artwork and books.
It's a large, old, characterful building, with the type of moulded skirting boards and architraves which attract dust and dirt, so overall the paintwork here and on the doors was grubby.
