The Spice Ship

The bed was very comfortable Everything we needed. Little kitchenette, ensuite, coffee table and small sofa. Breakfast was included. This was good.

There was no parking available when we arrived, so had to find parking locally. As an overnight stop I was concerned leaving all belongings on show in the car. There was a slight smell of dog in the room. I got nose blind to it after a while. The window is right by a busy main road but it wasn’t too noisy once the window closed. We put the fan on to cool the room down and it also helped to have some white noise.

The property was in a good location with plenty of car park. The staff was amazing, we were late due to my boyfriend’s flight and they were very accommodating, they were friendly and welcoming. The room itself had everything in, with welcoming water, a sleeping pack, and plenty of choices between hot drinks and a few packs of biscuits. They also provided emergency contact numbers, 4 or 5 different people that could help if needed. Breakfast was included and had a set menu to choose between 5 dishes and then a section which had cereals, drinks, toast and croissants. It was really cool to have a pub downstairs!

The only slight issue was the shower which was quite small and especially difficult to move in.

The staff were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was good. The added extras were nice to have (good quality tea and coffee in the room and some biscuits)

The room (room 2) was very small - it was difficult to even find enough space to put two overnight bags - and the shower was tiny. The worst thing though was the noise; the road is very loud, and they had live music on which was so noisy that the room was shaking! They do put free earplugs in the room but they don't really make much difference. Apparently there is live music every Friday and Saturday so I really wouldn't recommend staying then - maybe acceptable on other nights if you are OK with the road noise.
